Have any of you ever stayed at any of the KOA campgrounds in Orlando or anywhere else in the US. In your own camper or in one of their cabins. Were the sites and bathouse clean. Were there enough bath facilites?
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Many KOA's are privately own and just franchise the KOA name and rules, set up etc. I have been in wonderful KOA's N, S and as far W as Louisanna. We had a pop up without AC and were pretty far west in the summer, it was very hot so we stayed one night in a cabin with AC. Not all Cabins have AC but most do, cabins do not have bathrooms. My parents have stayed in a cabin while we have camped in our TT. They are nice, you have to bring your sheets, pillows etc and cooking supplies. But I think now they have Camping Cottages with bathrooms. Pets are not allowed in cabins. I have had to wait during busy times(when amusement parks close and people return, late in evening for showers) Most women shower kids so it can take women longer. Most KOA's I have ever stayed in are clean and well kept. Unfortunately they can't always control the mess other people may leave, or kids playing or being loud at night. They do have rules and I know they follow them, I have heard about people drinking excessively being asked to leave. If something does not suit you, cleanliness of the bathroom etc. let them know at the office. At least you give them the chance to remedy the situation. Never stayed in one in Orlando but have stayed in others in FL. Hope that helps.

Stayed at the Orlando KOA on Rt 192 for 1 night in March. It was pretty pricey, comparable to FW, tho it may have been bcause it was high season. It was very clean, but sites were somewhat closer together than FW. The pool area was beautiful, but didn't use any of the bathrooms. Hope this helps! Generally we are usually happy at KOAs.

I have only stayed in one KOA in PA. It was very nice, but I have heard that b/c KOA's are privately owned that they can vary a lot from one to the next. One site that I have found that helps when picking campgrounds is http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ . It allows people to rate campgrounds and give their opinions. It's not complete but it helps.

We have stayed at a few KOA's but not in Orlando. The ones we stayed in were clean, safe, and about $25 per nite. I do know where the ones in Orlando are and I don't like the locations. The one on 192 near Sams gets alot of traffic congestion. And, if you are going anytime soon, the one at Ft Summit has road construction all over the place and was farther away than I thought. We did not stay there but we passed the exit from I-4 on our way to Tampa and it was farther that I would want to drive.

We stayed one nite at Tropical Palms last month before our FW stint and it was nice. My kids loved the pool because it was actually heated and warm! DH said the bath house wasn't that nice though. I didn't go into the bath house so I can't comment on that. This is where we are staying in December since I haven't been able to get enough days at FW. Trop Palms is about 10 min from WDW.

Hi - we've only stayed in one KOA and that was in Gettysburg PA. This particular one was very nice and very quiet. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Sorry, since we have a camper with a potty and shower I don't know about the showers,etc...

This is only my opinion...typically, KOA campgrounds are among the most consistant(I would include Jellystone Parks in this also) in the Eastern U.S.-you pretty much know what you are going to get from one to the next. My Dad (who had travelled out west as well) always told me that he always felt safe picking a KOA to stay in-that he could pretty much count on what he was gonna get. One downside, they tend to be more expensive than private campgrounds, but when it's important to know where you are gonna land (as opposed to winging it) the extra expense may be worth it. I haven't stayed at the Orlando area one's at all-but from what I do know about KOA's costs-I would choose Fort Wilderness everytime.
