Sunday, 5/1, we packed and called for a bell person. I noticed a double charge on our bill, and took Bo Bo down to the lobby to get it cleared up. The Fed Ex package was still not there so they put a note in the computer that I would still be around, and would call back Monday to see if a package showed up.
Getting the charge erased took longer than expected. Bo Bo was a patient angel sitting in his stroller waving to everyone that passed by. Apparently there are people in the back that the CMs have to line up to see in order to get things like this corrected. When that person decided to come out of his cave with my corrected bill, DW, the kids, and our luggage were just entering the lobby. Great timing! I finished up and went to get the tagless van.
I was extra nervous when we pulled up to the Shades of Green. There were no problems, she waved us through. She didn't smile, but she let us in.
SOG was beautiful. And the parking garage was convenient. But it wasn't Disney.
"Can we check in?"
"Check in time is at 15 hundred."
"OK, we'll see ya after 3." No smiles.
We met my parents at our rallying point of the coffee shop at 10:30. We woofed down some breakfast items and marched off to the Poly to catch the monorail to MK.
My parents haven't been to WDW since 1972. I convinced them to come with us this year by telling them about the military owned resort. My Dad is a retired Marine who served for 30 years. So it was awesome seeing them walk down Main Street with their Grandsons. With DW, Knucklehead, and I as their guides, we made sure they saw everything worth seeing at MK. We showed them how to use Fast Passes at the Jungle Cruise
Captain Bo Bo
then went on POTC, then did the Tiki Room and Alladin's Magic Carpets before returning for our cruise.
Won't you come with me...on a magic carpet ride.
We then convinced my parents to ride Splash Mountain. Again, we got Fast Passes and went back and did the Country Bear Jamboree. Bo Bo loved it, so, so did everyone else. My parents, DW and Knucklehead all road Splash Mtn. in an overloaded log. Grandpa got soaked, since he and Knucklehead were in the front. Grandma bought the picture to prove to her friends she rode it, but she didn't want to go again with our Baby Swap ticket. So, DW, Knucklehead and I all rode together for the first time ever.
Stay Back, he's got Bo Bo! A rare Stitch Siting (I hate to have my picture taken).
We ate a late lunch/early dinner at CRT. The food was good, and because of our odd priority seating time of 2:50, the place was practically empty. Most everyone had the Prime Rib lunch portion except my Mom who had Major Domo's meat pie and the boys split a cheeseburger. I had also ordered the Spring Rolls to share, which were just spicey enough.
Where we ate.
After dinner, the ladies and Bo Bo decided to go make sure our rooms were ready, that Roy had delivered and set up the crib we rented, let Bo Bo nap, and unpack.
The rest of us headed over to Space Mountain. Knucklehead talked Grandpa into it. Grandpa is addicted to sunflower seeds. And when he gets nervous, he starts popping them into his mouth in greater quantities. He was tearing them up as we neared the front of the line. But once we launched, the old Marine was having a ball. After Space Mountain, we decided we needed to tackle the other mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road. The line was 30 minutes and the Fast Pass return time was beyond when we said we'd meet the ladies back at the Resort.
"Knucklehead, we've got all week. We'll do it later."
Instead we did something we had never done before, Tom Sawyer Island. Knucklehead loved it. And of course we promised that we'd do it again later in the week, but it was time to leave.
Back at SOG, the ladies had completely unpacked, Roy had come through, and OMG, get a load of the size of this room! Too bad we didn't get a picture. But, man these rooms were huge. The bathroom was awesome. There were two sinks in front of the vanity mirror in one room, and then the commode and large tub in the other. The best part was that there was a door to the vanity room and another to the bathroom. There were two very comfortable queen beds, one sleeper sofa, a table with 2 chairs, a large dresser, a refrigerator, and still plenty of room for the full sized crib. There was an iron and ironing board in the large closet along with a safe we never used. Bo Bo got to it before we could set a code. Our rooms were in the new section, 2nd floor around the corner from the elevator. They were next to each other, but not adjoining.
That night we drove over to DTD in Grandpa's van that had a tag. We ate at Earl of Sandwich and everyone went shopping except for Knucklehead and myself. We were off to video game junky heaven, Disney Quest. We did laps through that place, jumping from game to game. Knucklehead was still too short for some of the stuff, but we had a ball doing the Pirates of the Caribbean 3-D game. It would have been better if we would have had one more deckhand. I had a hard time trying to steer and shoot the cannons at the same time.
The day was catching up to us, and we left just in time to catch the 23 hundred Shades of Green bus back to the resort. See, SOG buses run back and forth from DTD every hour on the hour. All I have to say about the bus is, "Nice." Wonderfully cushioned seats, and music playing...
"Dad, wake up. We're here."
