I really liked this movie up until the alien encounter at the end. I was hoping there was a way to avoid the disaster.

Dh and I feel the same way, unfortunately I knew it would be like that as soon as they talked about not being alone in the beginning.
I was hoping it would be more like a Mothman Prophicies ending, not like a Styx song

The whole movie was pretty good, up until the ending which turned so strange so quickly! The alien thing just didn't fit

I scrolled over to see if maybe someone was asking if it was a good movie and instead I find out about the ending....We just rented this to watch tonight.. Guess I won't bother now..

Really, the movie has been out for months. It shouldn't be shocking that there would be spoilers in the thread. Yes, you scrolled over the title, and then you clicked the link.

Here's something interesting, I had a conversation with a teenager the other day about this movie and the group she was with saw the creatures as angels and not aliens. I don't remember the movie that well, as I saw it right when it came out, but could the perception of the beings be influenced by your own beliefs?

She was certain she saw angels, and I certainly remember seeing aliens and thinking it would have been more interesting if it had been angels!

Oh, I'm sorry....most people will kindly post a Spoiler Alert in their title, knowing full well you can see the first post whether you click or not (try it!), excuse me for expecting some common courtesy...and I have only seen a few previews, nothing pointing to the ending....but whatever...now I know why I don't post much.

My one problem with the ending. ((Spoiler)) There ya go.

Judging by the size of the spacecraft in the end, how would it hurt to allow the Father (Nick Cage) to come along with them to safety? It's not like there appeared to be a shortage of room on board.

I really liked this movie and wished I had seen it in the theater. I can see why they'd be thought of as angels by some, but I do believe the intent was beings from another planet trying to help preserve the other planets with life forms such as ours.

In regards to the "spoiler" situation, it would have been nice to note that there are spoilers within in the title, however it ALSO would have been nice to mention and request it politely instead of getting all panty-bunched about it. People respond better to politeness, IMO.

You can pretty much figure out its aliens very early in the movie. Its definitely still worth watching, it was a good movie up until the end so instead of being mad you should thank the OP so you don't even have to bother to watch the very end

My husband and I just watched this movie last week. We really liked it. You do get the feeling early on that the whisperers are aliens, they have the alien shaped heads too. And that they are there to save the children. Which at the end when just the kids are taken away and are running around reminded us of Adam and Eve.

My dh and I watched it last night and also liked it right up until the end with the aliens. My dh thought that they were making the aliens kind of look like angels to make all the stories about angels really be aliens.
