This morning we called MS to make a reservation with some points that were in a holding account. According to the rules, you can use the points for a reservation "booked 60 days or less before the new check in date." I was told that we could only use them for the first night since it was 60 days to that night only and would have to call back tomorrow for the next night to use them again and so on......

I explained that this was not the rule and that we could use them all as of today. I was on hold for quite a while but sure enoguh the CM came back with the whole reservation.

Moral of the story.

1. If it wasn't for this web site, I for one would not be nearly as familiar with the rules as I would be without it.
2. Do your homework when it comes to any type of transaction you plan to make. You never know what the CM will tell you and it's best to be familiar with what you are trying to do before you call.

Thank you Dis Boards.

ITA. Have had w-a-y too many CMs who are not conversant on the fine points of DVC. I ALWAYS get verification on special questions here on the DIS BEFORE I call MS. Thanks, HBC, for posting this to alert others.

I had a big mistake made on a reservation about a year ago that I called for on a Saturday. My bet is weekend cm's are not as experienced.

I agree with you. CMs probably select their hours based on seniority and most people don't want to work weekends, LOL, so the newbies get the weekend duty.

DVC can be complicated. We know all the rules becaused we have $$ invested and spend alot of time on these boards asking questions. :surfweb:

Imagine if you were a new hire and had to learn everything quickly, often rush while taking requests for members who are concerned a date might book up, and then on top of it have customers who know the ins and outs of your company/job better than you!

I definitely do my homework before I call so we can work together to ensure all the details for my dream vacations are taken care of.

Oh, I have had this happen also. Once I said ok, then I realized what they said was wrong and called right back. Now, I just wait and call during the week. In your point situation, I would have called on the weekend also if that was the first day.

I agree that generally the newbies get the week end hours; however, that is usually when we have the time to make our phone calls. But with the help of DIS, I try to be certain that I have all of my info before making that phone call.
