Know other DVCers?

I bought bc my older sister (who bought attending a wedding at Disney) and a good friend (whose wedding my sister attended at DW... and he bought 1k points to house family for the wedding!) were dvc members.

Then found out DH's best friend loves Disney who bought recently.

My brother also bought recently.

My brothers wife's family have had bcv and bwv since the beginning (early 2000's)?

My family (brother and sister) and SIL's parents are all in Jersey, my friend with the wedding is New Orleans, and DH's best friend is central PA.

My best friend bought before I did. It's fun to go on trips together. We've been on family trips, adult trips and girls only trips.
My dermatologist bought DVC before it was built. He said he was staying off site in July with his wife and daughters and someone asked if they would be interested and he jumped on it. He still uses it but usually trades out to travel.

We did meet through DVC however...

My sister was also DVC for a short spell, and my wife's mother's friend owns as well.

We have also had the honor of meeting and sitting with CarolMN and her husband at a F&W event a few years back.

I'm from Europe too, Denmark to be more precise.

If you say the word timeshare, either people frown because most people here who knows about it believe it's scam because a lot of people lost a lot of money or they don't know what a timeshare is.

So imho I'm one of the very few owners from Denmark

Same here! Timeshare is like a taboo word!

I have met so many of you on this board, I feel lucky for that, but I also have a cousin by marriage who has owned DVC since 1991, one of the first purchasers! However, do to family quirks, we really did not know each other until 3 years ago! What a great thing it is to be able to talk about Disney with another family member who also owns a vacation home at the Jersey shore, so we see each other a lot!!! We e-mail each other nearly daily. We've now been on a DCL cruise together, a gals meet at Disney and a gals DCL cruise on the Fantasy booked for 2018! We also have plans to pool our points to get a GV in Aulani for a September 2018 visit with family and friends.

Over the years I have met a lot of DVC members, kids school, customers and co-workers at work. I also see many DVC tickets or personalized plates on cars driving or in parking lots while at work or just shopping. I have friends and family members that own DVC also.

Thought you forgot, LOL! Back then, never would have believed that you would end up selling your contracts and moving to Florida. The curves life tosses at us, yes? Hope you continue to hang out here - maybe one day we'll hear you've bought back in to DVC.

I also got to meet WebmasterDoc at a Merry Mixer, and jekjones1558 at BWV. Jean & I both live in the same metro area.

I know I've met lots of others - I am terrible with names. I have quite a group of faces in my brain without a name (or even a Screen Name) attached.

But it really feels like I know a lot of you even though we've never met.

Dh's parents bought bwv back in 95 or 96 and then vwl. We enjoyed (and still do enjoy) vacations on those points but we bought into vgf in 2013. Now we enjoy more vacations with them. But we don't know anyone else.

Sister and BIL purchased OKW in the mid 90's. Sis had gifted some nights over 2 WDW trips to DW, DS and myself and we got hooked. One of DW's friends recently purchased as well, but haven't taken any trips with them yet.

DW has a friend that owns DVC but she is in another city 200 miles away. I have a cyber friend I met through these boards who is a DVC member but he also is some distance from here, we threaten to meet up one day. When we talk about DVC to friends they usually act like they've heard of it, but that's probably just so we'll stop explaining it.

I wish there were people that got together in my town to chat every now and then, but I just get my Disney fix on these boards. Most people don't understand my level of compassion for Disney or my level of knowledge, so I don't usually bother. I love the parks, Imagineering, art, movies, and music.

We knew 3 (although one sold), but only 1 has the fever like we do. It's great to go on the boards, but I agree completely with PP. Would be nice to get together for a local Disney chat with a small group.

I've had fun meets with Disboard friends. Sometimes it's with gals, sometimes couples, sometimes for a meal, sometimes to meet at a venue for a concert or to see fireworks.

We brought friends 3 years ago and they just bought in this year. Our kids orthodontist is the one who convinced me about DVC. Before that I wasn't sure what it was. He has been a member since it first opened. Other than that, I have met couple through Fb groups that own DVC. Our daughter was in the DCP and I made quite a few parent friends through a parent page and some were DVC members too!

I am a teacher and there are three of use in the building that own DVC. Since we have the same school breaks it is inevitable that we run into each other almost every trip.
