We visited WDW for the first time last year. I studied for 2 years for that trip and now feel like an expert in all things DisneyWorld. I am considering a short trip to DL and know nothing!!! I've been to DL once in 2005 for one day on a California vacation. Back then I knew nothing about Disney at all. We just showed up and had fun for a day.

I am thinking about flying into LAX (free flights with 50,000 bonus for signing up for a Southwest cc), and taking a shuttle to the Motel 6 Anaheim (good neighbor hotel). My understanding is that it is close enough to walk to and from the parks everyday, is this true? It sounds as though we will have no need for a car, and can take a shuttle back to the airport. I'm wanting to stay 4 nights and get 3 day hopper tickets through the YES program. This will be a 10th birthday present for my DD, it will be just a girl trip for us :)

This would be at the end of March. I know nothing about good/bad times to visit. I am a fastpass expert though, so I'm not too worried ;) I've heard that locals with annual passes have blackout dates, would that be going on at the end of March?

I'm planning on eating counter service most of the time. We did the Minnie breakfast in 2005 when DD was 3 and she loved it then but I don't feel we need to go again. We did several character meals at WDW last year. I figured we could bring granola bars etc. to eat for breakfast at the hotel.

Does this sound workable? If any DL experts could help me out with any details or info I don't know about that would be awesome!

The DLR Guide and Mary Jo's sticky thread is where you should start.

Late March will be good in some ways and bad in others. Likely it will be bad for crowds since it will be Spring Break but good for entertainment schedules and a lower number of refurbs.
