We are going to be in DL Dec 8-13 and my Dad really wants to take a 1 day detour to visit Knots Berry Farm.

Does anyone know what KBF does to celebrate the Christmas Holidays? Also any suggestions for travel from the Anabella to KBF? Are there shuttles or anything? We are flying & will have DD2 and will not have a car seat...so will probably need a shuttle or bus....

I posted a similar question in the So. Cal Theme Park board and it was suggested to take the Metro 460 or http://www.rideart.org. It looks like the Metro gets the quicker so I'll be taking that route.

When we went last year, we took a taxi van, there was 6 of us.
approx cost was $45. plus tip.

Thanks, the ART has their route page down, will check back there later. Any Idea how to read the 460 schedule? I'm not a city girl and never ride buses....not sure which stop would be close to the Anabella.

We need a car seat for a Toddler, so a taxi is not an option.

Here's a DIS blog about Knott's at Christmas:

Knott's Merry Farm

We also talked about it on the December 6, 2012 DIS Unplugged: Disneyland Edition podcast.

Thank you for the links, the Knott's Merry Farm link I found elsewhere was broken so that was super helpful in showing me there will be plenty to entertain us for the day.

I don't know where the stop is at that is labeled as Disneyland. The one for Manchester and Harbor closer to the MiMi Cafe. I'm going to be walking from the Travelodge International and just going to walk down Harbor to find the bus stop. They normally have a sign where the bus stop is at.

egritz -

I just wanted to point out that the links that Tom/ImTooExcitedToSleep gave you above are on the first page of the Superthread, but you may have missed them when you checked last night. The link you said was broken was the link that had originally led to Knott's dedicated Merry Farm page on their own site. It's quite possible that link will be reactivated when the season begins again, or I will find their new link.

But the link to Wayne Toigo's blog -- as well as a blog from Mary Jo and I think a link to the part of the podcast where Wayne discussed Knott's last year -- is in this specific post - http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=46975180&postcount=9. The links are not broken. There's lots of info on that first page of the Superthread! I put in tons of time and work on it and broke everything into categories so it would be easier to find!

I'm going to move this thread to the SoCal Theme Parks forum.

The 460 bus picks up and drops off right in front of Disneyland, by the taxi pick up/drop off area. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Knott's from there.

The holiday-themed Sunday brunch there is a must-do (well, for me, anyway); the food is good & the kids can meet Snoopy!

Also, the ice skating show is super cute, and is included in the price of admission.

Reviving my old thread / topic! Okay, we are planning on doing Surf's Up at Paradise Pier first thing, then try to take either the ART or Metro 460 Bus over to Knott's Berry Farm (leaning towards Metro 460 since it sounds a lot quicker).

Here is my question - on a Friday in December (13th) will it make more sense to walk through DTD & security to get over to the bus stop on Harbour (or the ART depot), or should we go around by going down W Katella? Speed is my concern - not distance. I'm worried about security on a Friday morning. We'll be trying to catch a bus between 9 - 10am.

Also, do you pre-pay for the Metro, or pay when you board the bus? And I'm assuming I can bring a stroller on board, but if someone could confirm? Thanks!

On the 460, you pay when you get on the bus :thumbsup2 IIRC, one can bring a stroller on the bus as long as it's folded up...someone else could probably better answer that question, though.

I am guessing it would take about the same amount of time to go through DTD/security as it would to get to the bus via Katella. It may even take less time to go through DTD/security, unless for some reason security is super-crowded that morning.

Thank you for your response....though what is IIRC? And yes, figured the stroller has to be folded, so that shouldn't be a problem..plan to pack light food-wise that day anyway.
