I have been planning our first family trip for Aug 2011. Then DH says lets go for a couple days at thanksgiving and we will do some off site and FW stuff so when we go in aug we won't feel so rushed. Fantastic. DH requests the wed before thanksgiving off and today I go to make the reservation. Only problem is that i was looking at Nov. 2011 not 2010. There are no campsites available. I am such an idiot!!! Any suggestions?? We can get into port orleans riverside for about 200 more than camping (there are 6 of us and one is 2) We will save about 300 by going to sea world this year but now I don't know if it is worth it.

First, don't rely on the web site, CALL and check on sites. If that doesn't work all you can do is keep trying. Also try a longer period, you can cancel the un-needed days a little later. Good luck in your quest.

First, Welcome to the Disboards.

Second, I'm sorry to tell you, but Thanksgiving week is probably the most popular week of the year at the Fort.

At this point, all I can suggest is that you call every day. Early. And ask for a campsite.

People do cancel reservations, and things do come open, but it will take a lot of persistence on your part to snag a site during Thanksgiving week this close to Thanksgiving.

I hope it works out for you.

Sometimes you have to call everyday and do it several times a day. It can change in an instant. I have done that before when DH decides at the last minute he wants to go for the weekend.
