Kitty owners-help with hairballs please!

We have a long haired Calico/Maine coon mix and she grooms herself all the time, but so far and knock on wood she hasnt had any hairballs. But we did just adopt her in october of last year.

When we got her, we put her on purina one advanced hairball food, its the one in the turquoise bag with a purple stripe, and give her purina hairball prevention treats every day, they are in an orange bag and are triangle shaped treats. I dont know if its making a difference or if she just doesnt ingest much hair, but so far, no hair balls...WooHoo.

makinorlando...our youngest cat Willy will smell a cantalope being peeled and cut from anywhere in our house and comes running to get some!!!lol It's almost like he's after catnip when he smells the melon. I thought we were the only ones whose cat loves melons!

All of our cats do - three of them (not counting the kittens, they are not weaned!) - they all have come to expect it every morning - and will come from near and far! Two are sisters and have always been together, so I kind of understood that, but the third is newer, so I would have thought she would not have a taste for it!

I have a hard time thinking of canteloupe as fruit for human consumption now - to me it is CAT food!!!! I was out for a couple days - store was out whole melons, so I bought pre cut, and it was icky in a day, and I just didn't get to the market.... they were not happy, and were very vocal about it all morning long!!!! I couldn't even get them to eat some canned tuna in place of it!!!!
