I DD has the kitty litter box in her bathroom off of her bedroom and the rec room. The smell wants to drift over, what can I use for a better smell? Of course, I am the only one that can smell it.

There are all sorts of litters marketed as "small space" for smaller rooms. You might try one of those. And of course, keep the box scooped out as much as possible...I do it at least once and sometimes twice a day.

At the shelter where I work we use feline pine. There are 10-20 cats in a community cat room with 3 litter boxes and it never smells.
I have 4 cats and 3 boxes, 2 are feline pine and one is a clumping. One cat wont use the feline pine, so you may have to be patient until they use it! lol

I find a layer of bicarbonate of soda at the bottom of the litter tray helps with oder.

I highly recommend one of these:

I live in a one bedroom apartment and it does a good job of containing the smell. There's a slot on top for a carbon filter.

As for kitty litter, I recommend Fresh Step.

We have one of those litter boxes, but the cats seem to like the smaller ones better. :confused3 (4 cats 3 litter boxes).

I used to scoop every other day of so and have no smell, but newest cat is STINKY and I have to scoop right after she goes or it's nasty!!

I second the feline pine. We have two litter boxes in a small laundry room, and it would smell. We switched, and no smell! I still clean it out very often. They had no problems switching.

The smell of kitty litter usually makes me gag but I love having my kitty. I just started using Fresh Step Lavendar scent and it is awesome. Everyone smells things differently so you have to find one that works for you. This one is great for me.

We have had many cats for nearly 20 years and feline pine (or another pine pellet litter) is bar none the best litter for odor.

My dad used the breeze system and said there was no odor but I don't have any first hand testimony for that one. We've used the pine for many, many years.

I bought one of those "sense and spray" air fresheners and hung it on the wall above the litter box. It sprays once when it senses motion or a change in the lighting and then locks for 30 minutes. It works great and has eliminated the odor problem. Actually, I know it's time to change the air freshener cartridge when I start to smell the litter box again.
