I'm trying to figure out what is the best way for me to plan my transportation for my next WDW adventure. Help!

I have DME planned. I am probably taking a kitten on board the airplane with me (I have boarding res @ Best Friends). I'm thinking about getting a rental car (have another Q out there regarding this), which would make this current Q moot - but! ---

Does anyone know if it's permissable to have a carry-on size animal carrier that is OCCUPIED brought on a Magical Express bus?

Thanks!
Brenda

Well, nevermind!

As soon as I posted this, I found the FAQ for Magical Express, and the answer is "no" - unless it is a service animal.

Being a DVM, I wonder if a letterhead w/ a copy of my license attached, declaring her to be some "agoraphobia therapy kitten" would count? :rolleyes1

Seriously??? I'm assuming you are just kidding.

I would suggest renting a car or a car service for you and your cat. That way you can go directly to Best Friends and get the cat settled in.

I really hope you are joking. :sad2:

I also wonder what Disney would do if someone with a cat showed up and someone on the bus (like me!) was highly allergic to cats.

Just noticed your other post. Sounds like you need to not use DME, plan on renting a car, and getting your own bags. Please don't keep trying to find ways around the rules. It is kind of frowned on here.

Take a deep breath, and don't assume everyone is "out to getcha." I'm posting the questions here so that I can find out the right way to get what needs done, done. If I were trying to find sneaky ways around rules, I'd not ask for public advice.

As a side note - Due to your allergy, I do hope you question the animal situation anytime you're about to board an airplane. For personal, fostering, and business reasons, I've travelled with cats, dogs, and rabbits in the cabin, often booking them only a day or so before my flight.

For everyone who thinks I'm being serious about claiming the cat to be a "therapy animal" - it takes more than a note from your DVM for that situation to fly (no pun intended).

As a cat owner, I'm wondering why you would put a kitten thru the torment of a plane trip instead of boarding it where you live? Seems that would be much easier on you and the cat. JMO

The thing is, you have 2 posts smack on the front page of the transporation section. One was locked because you were looking to see if you could get away with doing something you know is wrong. And on this one, when told you couldn't do what you wanted to do, you make a comment about how you could get around that rule. Maybe trying to be funny, but I'm not the only poster who missed the humor.

I'm not thinking you are out to get anyone, but it does seem like you are looking for ways to work the Disney system. And yeah, it does rub me the wrong way. But then I am pretty much a follow the rules kind of girl.

You know that I *knew* it was wrong, how?
That's why I ASKED THE QUESTION - because I didn't know if baggage can travel w/o its person. A couple of people stated, without a bunch of jumping in my face, that it's not allowed.

Reading that post, it looks like it was locked after the moderator mentioned that there is already a Q&A sticky that I overlooked. (which, btw, DOES include a lot of people finagling ways to get around the rules, which is what seems to bother you -- go check it out)

You certainly do assume quite a lot about a person and their motives.

As to the person who Q why travel with the kitten - she may be adopted by someone in the Orlando area. Also, whether kitten, puppy, or otherwise, all fosters that come through my home are taught to travel happily in soft carriers -- they're fed & given treats in them & practice car rides from a few mins up to a couple of hours. This kitten actually runs to the carrier when told "kennel up." It's only torment if it's out of the norm for them and/or when the carrier's only use is to bring them to my hospital for vaccines & thermometers in unhappy places; making a carrier part of the norm for a cat can be a huge benefit to you when/if the unexpected happens (travel or cat sickness/injury)

You asked if you could just not show up for the ME bus, so that your luggage would be handled for you. Complete with whistling roll-eyes man. That really doesn't read as an innocent looking for information question. Especially as you had stated you had used ME before, and had a good idea how it worked. That seems to be a "I know this is really not the right thing to do, but it will be ok, right?" question.

Maybe I am just reading everything you have written wrong. But can't you see how the way you are writing your posts leads to them being misinterpreted? I am guessing you are joking:confused3, but sometimes tone is hard to read.

ENOUGH!!!!! The op got her answer. She got her answer on her previous thread...and yes, it was closed down once she was given the correct area to find her info. And no, that thread does not give info as to how to finagle ways around the rules. It gives you info as to what may happen if you do try to bend the rules.

I have traveled with a cat..it wasn't the most fun I've had. Going through security was not a happy thing. Poor cat was terrified since she had to come out of her comfy carrier. I had images in my head of me chasing that darn cat through the airport after she leapt from my arms going through the scanner...even though she had a harness on (which she managed to get almost completely out of). I did ask for seating in a row with no one else around. The gate agent gave me a nasty look and asked if I had a problem with other people. Yeah, right lady. I informed her that I was in fact, traveling with a cat and didn't want to negatively impact any more people than I had to. So, if she had an empty area in the rear of the plane I would love to be put there. Man, you try to do something constructive and you get 'attitude'. I really didn't want to be seated close to others in case the cat decided to cry all the way to Orlando or if there were any with allergies close to her. There were some in front of me...and I asked them if they had cat allergies. Nope, they were good to go. The cat was fine except for take off and landing..that seemed to bother her. But she got safely to my ds...his cat that he didn't drive down to Florida the previous month. He then drove me to BWV and then headed home to Tampa.

Really, this is getting ridiculous. The OP asked a question, she made a 'funny'. Let's move on please.

you would torture your cat by making it fly down only to stat near you at disney? It would be a lot kinder to your kitten to board him at home. I would seriously worry about what a flight would do to him.

I'm sorry, but there are thousands and thousands of kitties out there that need a home. Can't the person in Orlando find one there? It seems crazy to me to fly a cat to kennel it to be adopted.:confused3 JMHO--we have a saying around here, "Cats are a dime a dozen."

I honestly don't understand why on earth the OP keeps getting piled on.

We don't even know what kind of kitten this is. It could be a purebred, for goodness sake. One of my co-workers paid $1,000 for a kitten (low-allergen) because her son is highly allergic to cats but her daughter desperately wanted a cat. Unfortunately, her son still had an allergic reaction so the kitten had to be returned. My point is, though, that breeders of some types of cats are not "everywhere" and an animal may need to be transported a distance. WHat is so horrible about the OP getting a kitten acclimated to a carrier and/or travel - be it by car, plane, train, or whatever means necessary?

Sheesh. Happy Monday, everyone.

Sorry you're getting piled on OP.

This is not the place for a discussion about whether or not you need to transport an animal on a plane. It has no bearing at all. The OP has asked a question, it has been answered. We are now done here.
