Kitchen Sink?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to plan which restaurants to include on our Aug trip and we would really like to try out some new places. I remember seeing somewhere a dessert called the kitchen sink that was similar to a sundae in what looks like a mini kitchen sink. It looks really fun and my kids would love that, but I can't remember which restaurant served this.

If anyone knows could you please let me know?

Also any other recommendations for great places to eat would be most welcome, so far we have:

50's Prime time
Boma
CRT
Chef Mickeys
Hollywood and Vine
Coral Reef
Nine Dragons
Restaurant Marrakesh
Akershus PSB

We have 2 more TS credits each to use up so looking for 2 new places to eat

The Kitchen Sink is at Beaches and Cream. It's at the BC resort by Stormalong Bay.

The food (burgers, hotdogs, onion rings, etc) is really good too. The problem is the restaurant is VERY small and they do not take reservations. Have a great trip--we'll be there in August too.

The Kitchen Sink is great, we go on every one of our trips and have it for lunch one day. It is a family tradition for us. It is so good and so much fun. We don't get lunch, just the sink... the kids love it! Only in DISNEY... You will love it!

Oh my gosh!! I saw this one a website ("this is why you're fat" I think) and I didn't know they had it at Disney. That would be such a fun, fun thing to eat on our vacation....

OOh didn't know you couldn't make reservations, thanks for the heads up, I will try to make sure I pick a quiet time, maybe mid afternoon?

LOL...there's nothing mini about the kitchen sink!

We were just there Tuesday, we had our kitchen sink as our daughters birthday cake!

Be aware that Beaches and Cream doesn't take reservations...and the wait at peak times can be very long as the restaurant is extremely small. It has only six or seven tables for four (which are pushed together for larger parties) and three large booths, plus counter seating.

It also looks as though you are on the dining plan. By most information on the boards, the Kitchen Sink is not included in the dining plan. There are a couple of recent reports that it may be ordered by more than four persons as their combined DDP dessert, but there are not enough reports like this to state B&C has definitively changed its usual policy to allow any DDP party of four or more to order a Kitchen Sink.

The kitchen sink is at a place called Beaches and Cream, its located at the Beach Club resort and you can't make ADR's there. The kitchen sink is HUGE so I wouldn't suggest eating dinner then eating it, my family did this once and we barely ate half of the kitchen sink because we were so full. But the sink is very yummy and I would suggest going there to try it

I would suggest to eat at the Crystal Palace, this is my whole family's favorite place because both the food and characters are good. Portobello in DTD is also a very nice place to eat, the food is good and they have water front tables outside if its a nice day.

It looks like you're already dinning at a lot of places, I would suggest to not book anymore so you can take advantage of the good QS food that disney has and also take advantage of places like Beaches and Cream.

I'm so upset you posted those pictures, my mouth is now watering, and the worst part is I gave up sweets for lent so I can't even go and eat ice cream now

There is a CS place nearby called Hurricane Hanna's. The kids meals are served in a sand bucket with shovel. We went there once and ate and the kids played in the sand. But once was enough, the food was good, but we like to eat that Kitchen Sink on an empty tummy!

Also, we always go right at 11am when they open and never have to wait, but by the time we leave it is busy.

We don't use our dining plan there because we just want the kitchen sink. We pay OOP and it is a little under $25, well worth it!!!

Thanks for the tips on Crystal Palace and Portobello, I will look into both of those! I know what you mean about having lots of dining already planned, but can't see those TS credits go to waste and we are there for 14 days

Oh wow the bucket and shovel sounds really cute! might call there too,, but if the kitchen sink is as big as you say, maybe save that for another day and just have the dessert

Traci I've never had the KS, but I've read about it here for a long time. The consensus seems to be that you need 5 adults (or kids with BIG appetities) to finish the KS. Of course there's no punishment for not finishing it, but it seems that it turns into a big goopy mess pretty quickly if you take too much time.

I'd like to try it sometime, and having read many responses the first thing I'd do would be to scoop a bunch of the toppings off into a separate dish to enjoy the ice cream rather than fill up on the toppings. Have fun

It's like $23.99 or something like that. We eat it as is, we like the toppings as much as anything. We go with me and DH, our kids (on our last trip they were 14,9 and 6) and my grandparents and have not ever left a drop almost literally. We eat all the melted bottom, it is so good! We have always finished it, but again, it is as a meal. even if yo udon't finish it, it's worth it for the experience.

Well there are 3 of us altogether, me DD17 and DD7, we are all really big eaters, but I don't expect that we will manage to finish it. To be honest I think I will like the toppings more than the ice-cream, and the girls will like the ice-cream more so we will all be happy! We will just enjoy what we can of it, if we can't manage it all I won't mind, it will be fun trying! :

I think it can took only 4 adults (or in your case 3) to eat it if you barely eat anything all day. If you eat dinner then there is no way a party of 6 or under can finish it, no way.

I also have to agree that it becomea a melted mess fast. The first time we ate it we took our time (6 of us) and it melted. My cousin was desperate to finish it he started slurping it down with a straw, so we all started doing that. It tasted like a milkshake so if yours does melt drink it

We've seen the KS and it is awe-inspiring. It will make it real easy to get a smaller sundae and not feel calorie guilt (LOL).

Yak & Yeti at AK - great reviews and the menu is very appealing
Do Not Miss Boma at AKL - we ate there twice last trip because the buffet selections were amazing with very unique tastes and preparation
At Downtown Disney, the Earl of Sandwich makes a great big lunch or a lighter dinner ... we've never been disappointed.
For a fabulous high end dinner: Flying Fish at the Boardwalk
Teppan Edo at the Japan pavilion is a very entertaining dinner experience and the food is excellent
At DHS the Sci-Fi Dine-In (Drive-In) is a whole lot of fun ... the food is nothing to write home about.
