Kitchen Sink??

Can you request certain flavors of ice cream or do you have to have the specific flavors listed?

You can request any flavors of ice cream you want.

We had planned on trying this last year (the entire family) but we chickened out in the end....

We saw one that was about half finished and to be honest...it just looked gross...like a frothy looking ice cream soup.... But I suppose it is a fun novelty just to try it once.

To me it just looks

I like compartmentalize my food so all of that mixed up makes me nervous!

But we're thinking of getting it on our visit with Grandma and Grandpa (they'll be 8 of us then).

I think with 8 people, you could all probably get through it in time to avoid it turning into a soup...but it might be tough to "compartmentalize"...

We just had one last week. My son saw it on the Travel Channel and really wanted to try it. You can ask for any kind of ice cream. It really is over the top. We wouldn't do it again. My suggestion is to ask for a bit of whipped cream not the WHOLE can. That's what turns the whole thing into a soupy mess.

Yes it does turn into a soupy mess. We had one last trip we made, Dec 2005. We told my dad all about it and now he is up for joining us for the challenge! So when we go this time, Dec 2007, he has booked his trip with us. I think we will request certain flavors and no strawberrys. I do have pics of it on our homepage. My brother had a hard time after we finished it off!

I had wondered about the flavors too. On the menu it says specific flavors for that and the banana split , but I don't like the flavors they list. We are thinking about sharing one.. 7 people. I read somewhere that for those who are grossed out about eating out of the sink, you get bowls with it. You can also only dig out what you like, so all the extras on top can be left out of your bowl.

I guess it depends on if you are ice cream people or not..

Several years ago, myseld, DH and the 2 boys had a kitchen sink.. we asked for only certain flavors of ice cream and toppings too...

We finished it with no problem. now the kids get a NO WAY JOSE cause it is 3 scoops each not the 2 scoops each in a kitchen sink..

I've already promised the boys that we can get the Kitchen Sink when we are there in August...though they are trying to talk me into letting them each have one because they heard if you can eat it by yourself its free. Um, doesn't matter, the answer is still no.

We'll have to order ours without pineapple or coconut because of allergies, but otherwise we are good to go. (Though personally I'd rather have a No Way Jose).
