My family of six is thinking about heading to Beaches and Cream on our Epcot day to get the kitchen sink. Is it worth it? We've never been in the Epcot resort area. Is it too far of a walk for dessert or should we find something in Epcot? I should add that we have never spent more than a half day in Epcot due to the kiddos getting bored/tired.

If you are over by France, it's only a five minute walk! I've never had the kitchen sink, but we've done the walk before! Have fun!

It's a very short walk- ten minutes at most, probably more like five. A nice and easy trip.

Just be careful, Beaches and Cream gets crowded. You might want to hit it as soon as it opens (I think that's 11:30?), or you'll want to hit it at around three in the afternoon, when the lunch crowds have faded. There are no ADR's, and sadly, you can't take out the kitchen sink.

Three words.......OH. GOD. YES.

I can't think of a better family bonding activity than engulfing a mountain of ice cream and having everyone watch.

If you're really up tot he challenge.....if one person finishes it on their own, it's free!

BTW, they actually do take ADR's now!

Yes, they require ADRs now although a walk-up is possible, I suppose, during off-peak hours. The Kitchen Sink is fun to look at and fun to watch being presented at other tables, but I find the regular sundaes more appealing. The Kitchen Sink will melt into a pool of toppings and ice cream before you finish it. It is definitely worth going to B&C and they have delicious sandwich offerings as well.

Thanks everyone!! I am so super excited to try something new!!! I make my ADRs in three days!! Woo hoo!!!

Depends how hungry you are and if you like everything that in The sundae. We went for dinner last month and shared the no way Jose for dessert and loved it so much we went back the next night just to try another sundae and got the Milky Way. It will be an annual visit for us from now on. Not a bad walk from epcot at all. We stayed at boardwalk and walked back and forth multiple times a day.

Absolutely - we added this as a must do every year. We will be there for almost 2 weeks in the summer and we are doing it twice. We too are a family of six and have no problem finishing it.

Make reservations.

I LOVE the pic with the straws!!!

It is one of our traditions, the Kitchen Sink for lunch. We love it! I am planning ADRs for a trip with just my youngest for this fall and he is so darn mad that I don't want to attempt one with just the two of us. :lmao:

We did it as a family of 6 and it was a great memory maker!

I will caution you that with our first Kitchen Sink we ate FAR too much food prior (we are 2 adults/2 kids), with our second we were MUCH wiser and shared meals and ate light (I think one of us ate soup or got the bowl of chili).

Dollar for dollar, I still think this is one of the best values in all of Disney, I would spend that much getting ice cream for all us and this is a fun way to get ice cream for everyone, including a few kids at the next table, ha!

I agree. Do it. You won't regret it --- esp w ADR!

On this trip there were 9 of us eating it so the kids really made sure there was none left. :thumbsup2

My friends went with us for their first time to Disney in November. The kitchen sink was on her must do list. But the only time she could get in was one hour before our dinner ressie at Tutto Italia! She went with her three kids and one of mine. I waited outside with my DH and hers while they ate the whole thing! I just couldn't go and eat that before dinner! So when we went last month we had dinner at beaches and cream and then were going to get it for dessert, but then decided on the no way Jose instead. We barely finished it!!! I think it would be great to get the kitchen sink but for us it just can't be right before or after a meal. Maybe a 2 or 3 o'clock snack would work well....

Not sure if it is still possible (I haven't been in about 6 years), but we got a "deconstructed" Kitchen Sink with a lot of the toppings on the side. We had to do it that way due to allergies (gluten, peanuts, and tree nuts in three different people), but our waiter said that people order it like that simply to avoid the "melt into a pool" problem. We also tinkered with the ice cream flavours, as I recall.

The Kitchen Sink is a tradition for us. Ever since first trying it a number of years ago, we now go to B&C every trip. We've yet to finish it all (usually 2 adults, 2 kids). We do it in place of a meal - it IS vacation after all, so ice cream for lunch or dinner is perfectly acceptable!

These are from last June - in the pics are my teenage niece & my 2 DDs.

Related to your kids getting bored, I wonder if you are aware of some of the more kid-enticing things to do in Epcot? It has become a favorite park to visit for our seven year old.

Obviously the rides and science related attractions in Future World grab them all, but in World Showcase the passport program and Agent P Adventure are great fun. We also do shopping related hunts, such as getting a flag from each country, try a treat from each country, etc., which is inexpensive and a fun way to get them interested in the pavilions. The more our DS7 explores, the more interested he gets it seems.
