Does the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream qualify as a dessert on the MYW Dining Plan?

Anyone ever tried to get it on the plan?

No, it is not part of the plan.

Is this something you actually tried with the plan or something someone told you?

The kitchen sink is a dessert for mulitple people. That is not allowed on the plan. Any item that serves more than one isn't allowed. This is also common sense. Do you really think if 4 people sit down that they each can order a 25.00 dessert???

I wonder if there were 4 people on the dining plan and they wanted to share one....do you think they would let them have that as their dessert?

That simply isn't true as evidenced by both 'Ohana and the Whispering Canyon where things are served "family style"/ Both are on the plan.

So I guess I'm still looking for someone with direct experience with this rather than conjecture.

Those meals come in different sizes, depending on the number of people in your party. A party of two is not going to have the same amount of food in their skillet or dishes as a party of six. Since most desserts run from $5-$8, I think it's realistic to expect that a $25 dessert would not qualify as one dessert on the meal plan.

There's a big difference between 'Ohana and Whispering Canyon. Both of those are meals priced for one person, one credit. The dining plan does not allow dishes that are priced for multiple people, such as the Kitchen Sink. The Kitchen Sink isn't a "family style" dish as determined by Disney, it's a multiple person dish. Family style means that more food will be brought out to the table as desired, which doesn't happen with the Kitchen Sink. So no, the Kitchen Sink is not allowed on the dining plan for a one credit meal.

Hi there ~

We were told No on the kitchen sink w/ the dining plan. Even when we said three of us wanted to share..still No. If we'd wanted it badly enough we would have had to pay OOP. :snooty:

We thought it was dumb enough when we had vouchers and they wouldn't let us pool 4 vouchers (this was after they stopped giving it on the vouchers)..instead we each got a dessert and it cost more.
We were there when two different tables asked if it could be gotten, either on one dining plan, or combined and they said no.

We asked when we were there if we could get the kitchen sink for me AND DBf, and no such luck

Just FYI, we were there in October and ate at Planet Hollywood (where there are some meals that may require an "additional charge") and the waitress let us in on a little "secret" -- Disney has a set price for all of their Dining Plan meals... Disney would pay PH up to $27.00 for an entree, which means that they have a ceiling price for the meals. So for any entree over $27.00 at PH, you have to pay the difference (ie- Fish and Chips was like $32.00, so you would pay $5.00). Disney operated restaurants that serve entrees that are mostly at or above $27.00 are just made to cost 2 dining credits. We thought this was interesting and if you think about it in terms of price, it kind of puts things into perspective :scratchin  :flower:
