Kitchen Cannister Sets

Am I the only one who doesn't put flour, sugar into different containers? I put them in the pantry in the package they came in.
I don’t either. All flours, sugars, and teas are in cabinets in their original packaging. I have about 10 canisters stacked and aligned single file in the space between my refrigerator and countertop fish tank, so they only take up about a 5 inch width of counter space that would be unusable otherwise. I use them to store items I buy in semi-bulk quantities like popcorn and grits, as well as the “superfood” type items that I try to add to my cooking as often as possible and therefore want to keep within arm’s reach — flax seeds, hemp hearts, chia seeds, nutritional yeast, etc. When we move, I expect our new house will have much better kitchen storage and the canisters will be able to be stored away then.

Cannisters? No way. I'm a minimalist in terms of kitchen decor/gadgets/small appliances. I'm with @disneychrista - practically everything I buy stays in it's original packaging and is stored in a cabinet. The exception is brown sugar which I don't use rapidly enough and I'm always trying different tricks to keep it soft.

I do, mainly because they were a gift from my mom; and, they are pretty. But they aren't for flour or sugar. Two have kitchen utensils in them and one has Splenda packets in it for my coffee.

DW has succumbed to the mason jar craze. About a year ago she replaced whatever canisters we used to have (can't even remember) with various sized mason jars. Flour, sugar, tea bags, and sea salt. (We have a Keurig so no loose coffee.)

Plus there are mason jar drinking glasses and a pitcher. Probably some other things too.

I still use the older drinking glasses.

After having to vacuum out the cabinet for the 100th time of flour or sugar, I went to putting them in other containers.

Did away with mine years ago. Have to many small electrics I like to have room for on counter tops.

I went nuts and invested in a bunch of Oxo containers that I keep in my pantry. Even bought a label maker. It's the most organized the pantry has ever been. DH and kids, however, think I went off the deep end.

My family thinks I’m nuts too but they don’t seem to mind that’s it’s easy to get to just what they want or that they can see with a single glance if their favorite cereal is almost out.
