I have a set sitting on my kitchen counter. I really don't use them and they are taking up space.

Anyone else find them practical or impractical?

Not one bridal shower I have been to has the bride had this on the registry.

Thinking it's time to say goodbye to these.

My flours & sugars are in clear containers in our pantry.

I do have kitchen canisters, but I use them as beverage containers & their "place" on the counter is w/ the coffee maker. So they're like part of a "beverage station". One holds regular coffee, one holds decaf coffe, & one holds Advocare Spark drink mix packets.

I also have our sugar, flour and that in rubbermaid in the pantry.

I do have a few of the canisters from my set on the counter. The largest is for our most used cooking utensils right next to the stove. That's really the only one we use, I should pitch/give away the rest.

No canisters on my counters. I buy flour and sugar in smallish bags that I can pop into ziplocs. I keep them in a cabinet.

Mine are 40 year old green Tupperware. They hold flour and white sugar and I keep them in a cabinet. Brown sugar is in the refrigerator.

I keep mine in the cupboard. I don't have a huge kitchen so I need the space on my counters pretty clear or I think it looks too cluttered.

Got rid of mine quite some time ago. I keep all my flour, sugar etc. in Sistema Bake It containers in the pantry. When we remodeled our kitchen a couple years ago I had my DH put an open cabinet above my dishwasher where before that wall was empty. I had him feed the RO to my coffee pot and the coffee pot, decorative canister w/coffee in it and coffee mugs are all there, OFF my counter. Only thing left on my counter is my toaster oven and that’s angled under the corner cabinet where the space would be otherwise wasted.

I have green and gold pieces that must be from the 60s or 70s.
My great aunt gave them to my aunt to gave them to me when I got married 35 years ago.
Still nothing like real tupperware to store flour and sugar!

I have my Rae Dunn canister set on the countertop and I love it. I use them to store my flour, sugar, rice and grits. They are both functional and visually appealing!

I have a doland and a goofy one on the counter, one holds flour and one sugar. They make me smile so I will keep them!

I got rid of my canisters when we moved into this house 15 years ago. We gained a pantry, which our old house did not have. Since then, the flour, sugar, etc have been in clear containers in the pantry, not on the counter.

My mother's are orange and are at *least* 40 years old. She still uses them and they still work though!

I have 25 year old Tupperware canisters, that I do keep flour, sugar, brown sugar and powdered sugar in. But they are in my pantry. They are way too big to be on the counter, and not very pretty. I would never get rid of them though, the seal is amazing.

Hate counter clutter. But it happens. Only thing "permanent" on the counters are 2 small containers for cooking utensils. Other side of the kitchen we have the keurig and I have a few oil and vinegar bottles in a dead corner on the counter. Maybe bananas after I've been shopping. DH would have all kinds of "kitchen crap-toaster, toaster oven, etc." on the counter, if I let him. Nope. Nope. Nope. All stored in the pantry or the laundry room shelves.

I have Lock and Lock containers in the pantry for things that would be in canisters. Before the Lock 'n Lock I had round pink Tupperware containers that were a gift from an aunt as a wedding present. Square objects store so much better.

I have a canister set that matches my dinnerware. I use them as labeled, flour, sugar, tea, coffee. Well, the coffee one also has tea in it because no one here drinks coffee, and I like a variety of teas.

I still keep my sugar and flour in my canisters. I got them years ago from Pier One and I just love them.

Are you talking those decorative ones or the ones actually useful for storage?

Flour, sugar, rice, all that stuff that is loose and you don't really want to store it in the bag it came in goes into containers in my pantry. I don't have the decorative ones you keep on the counter to look good but don't really seal all that well.

My mom always had canisters. She had pink metallic ones in the 60's, red mushroom themed ones in the 70's, and then blue ceramic after that. I found the old pink metallic one that said "tea" on it and have it on my counter.

This is why I switched to the Sistema containers (similar to the Lock n Lock) for everything, bread crumbs, cereal, pancake mix, oatmeal, rice, dried beans, protein powder etc. Anything in an awkward or round container I’ve put in these. They stack and you can fit everything nice and uniform in your cabinets and pantry without having to rearrange everything to take out or put back in.
