Are they worth the cost? Which one should I get? I am looking for a deal on one, possibley black Friday!

I think so. It is great to mix things hands free. We got ours as a wedding gift in 1998. I won't say that we use it all of the time...but it is handy when we do.

I had a recipe a few weeks ago that I had to make several times and it called for beating something for 8 minutes. The Kitchenaid mixer came in really handy for that.

Worth every penny. I still use mine all the time-got it for my wedding in '93. Long outlasted the marriage.

Do you guys just have the standard model? There are several models, classic, artisan, and professional. They range from like 199-400. I think the basic one would be more than enough for us.

I have a standard model that I inherited from my mother when she passed away. It's circa 1970's, I think, and it's indestructible. Much better than a handmixer, imo. My mom had a Kenmore mixer prior to that, but the motor burned out.

The quality and power are definitely worth the cost. The mixers are very durable. My sister has her own and bought the attachments a few at a time. She makes her own sausages and pasta using the attachments.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine.. It was a "surprise" gift from DH and I admit I was like, "what the heck???"

I use it all the time. So fast and easy. It makes the best creamed potato ever!

I love mine. I have the professional series with a 6QT bowl. I can make a large batch of cookies my recipe makes 6 dozen, a large batch of cakes and I even make cinnamon rolls, pizza and bread with the knead attachment. I can't imagine my kitchen without it.

We got it last year on Black Friday at Kohls. It was 600 reg. price and it was on sale for 50% off then a 50.00 mail in rebate. So the final price was 250. I think it was a good deal.

The most popular is the Artistan model. It's the middle of the line and has numerous attachments. You can find good deals at Macy's, Jc Penny's, Kohls and QVC also has them. With QVC you can break it up into payments.

It's totally worth it! I had been using a regular stand mixer (Sunbeam, I think) that my grandma had given to me, and it was OK, but I really like to bake and it just wasn't adequate. My sister had a KitchenAid and I used hers several times and told my husband, "One day when my other mixer dies, I want one of these!" That year a big box appeared under the tree Christmas Eve and it was my mixer! He does love to spoil me!

I regularly tell him it's the best gift I've ever gotten - except for my engagement ring!

It will last forever. My wife has the 6 quart pro and uses it probably twice a month for the last 10 years.

It is heavy, when we redid our kitchen we added a mixer cabinet that has a has a spring assisted mixer platform. Now I don't have to haul it out for her.

I would choose your KitchenAid mixer more carefully than what is on sale in the coming weeks. Last Thanksgiving I was looking for a KitchenAid mixer, and learned that different stores carry different models. They all look the same, but the motors, and the way the mixers open up to access the mixing bowls, are different. Plus different models have larger bowl capacity, or smaller. I took note of which store carried which model and what price. Then I went to the KitchenAid website and learned about the different models. Most important was the motor watt size. The Artisan series is a 325 watt motor, and a 5 qt bowl, with a tilt head (which I don't love). The one I decided on, the Professional 6 series, has a 575 watt motor, a 6 qt bowl, and bowl lift that I like much better.

Plus, off the shelf, you are limited to the colors in stock. I'm not a fan of the common Candy Apple Red or plain white. Online you may choose from numerous wonderful colors and finishes.

Once I decided on what I was really looking for, I went online looking for best price and best shipping. I chose everythingkitchens.com, and I couldn't have been happier. There was also a manufacturer's rebate at that time that I sent in. This year, you may find a better price at another website. I am just posting my experience from last year. I'm glad I did some research. For a little extra $, I got a much more durable mixer in a wonderful color.

I have the Artisan series with a 5 quart bowl in the Cook for the Cure edition. (Pink).

It is all we need, since we don't do much more than mix up a few cakes and cookies with it.

A pro series would have been a waste for us.

We got an excellent price from Lowes a few years back when this budget board had a posting about a special price. I think it was something like $135 after all the discounting.

I've had my Kitchen Aide for over 15 years and it's still in great shape. I think it's the professional series because back then they didn't have the artisan with the tilt-back head. This one has the bowl lift which does take some getting used to. My only issue with it is that it's so tall it doesn't fit under the kitchen cabinets so I have to put it away everytime I'm done using it.

I bought my K.A. about 25 years ago. I don't use it all the time, but it more than pays for itself when I need a heavy-duty appliance to mix things.
It does a terrific job on whipping egg whites and heavy cream. I recently bought the ice cream maker attachment, and am really enjoying home made ice cream. The pasta maker attachment is also great, but you absolutely need to have a prepared area/pasta dryer for the pasta, or your kitchen will wind up looking like that old Lucy and Ethel clip when they find work on the production line in the chocolate factory!

Stand mixers are listed as a morning special on the Macy's one day sale this week. Looks like 40% off MSRP, I have no idea how that compares with other sales / discounters, but might be worth running the numbers.

I know kitchenaid is synonymous with stand mixer for most people, but I went with a cuisinart. What can I say, I prefer the look of the cuisinart, it gets equally good reviews, and I don't mind being a bit of a rebel.

I have the 6 quart professionsal and it has been worth every cent! I buy the professional for family members when they get married.

I use it all the time and there are only two of us nowadays

Get the best one you can afford!
