Kissimmee V I-Drive

I-Drive:
Pro's - closer to Sea World/DC & Universal/IofA. Good choice of restaurants that you CAN walk to. Good trolley system (not that I've tried it) and some good shops (yes - some are tacky!)

Con's - Noisey, BUT this depends on where about you stay. Takes a while to get to WDW.

Kissimmee:
Pro's - closer to WDW. Good choice of shops and restaurants (you would probably need a car though).

Con's - takes a while to get to the parks closer to I-drive!!!!

We've stayed on I-drive a few times before and I really liked that we could stroll along to a restaurant each evening.

When we started taking the family and staying in villas we have stayed along or just off the 192. Personally, I don't like it as much but because we have a car it doesn't make much difference to us - it does mean though that we have to drive to most restaurants and I think you'd find this even if you were staying at a hotel directly on the 192.

I think a lot of it will depend on what you want to be closest to. Both areas have nice and not-so-nice restaurants and shops, depending on whereabouts you stay. There really isn't much in it apart from location!

The main disadvantage we find on the 192, like you say, we have to drive everywhere which if you want to go out for a drink is a big handicap.
Plus you cannot walk down to the bar for a drink either, something I used to like to do.
However, since we started staying in a villa it has added a new dimension to the holiday and given us the extra time/space to relax when we are not out and about . A private pool, cooking facilities and the extra room/privacy are essential to us with our young son.
Without going on and on about our little lad, we do not often get the chance to relax at home , so a villa just gives us the chance to chill out a bit more between visiting all the attractions etc
When there were just the 2 of us we did travel across all parts of Florida and always stayed in hotels so we now prefer something different, either that or we are just getting older.

(1) If we do things different ways then fine, long as if we all have a good time.

(2)Actually, I do not know whether you visit the Ponderosa at the south end of I drive but that is definitely one thing thats better than the 192, the Ponderosa we went to on the 192 in March was horrid.
This restaurant seems to vary in quality depending on which one you choose.

(3)What's the Blue Flag Flying about? I have a suspicion but thought better check first..

Hi Johnny

(1) Definitely true.
(2) Have not visited Ponderosa for two years now, IMHO quality of food and hygiene have gone downhill, but the I-Drive one you mention was a good one.
(3) Blue Flag is one of the Chelsea songs, I have been a supporter since I was 8 years old - way back in 1964 - I feel old just typing this!!!!!!

I agree with you that some parts of I-Drive are tacky but it's good fun going into some of the cheap gift stores and listening to some tourists saying "Oh Auntie Betty would like this"....I bet she wouldn't!

By the way I always like reading your comments because you have a straight forward no nonsense opinion which I respect, Ian Bond is another poster with good points of view.

Best wishes

Hi there , thanks for the compliment and the same applies to you, you just say things the way you see them in a refreshing way.
Having said that when I tell you that I am a Liverpool Season Ticket holder for 20 odd years our 'friendship' may not be quite as strong ;)

Come to think of it I often go in the 'tacky' stores on the 192 for the same reasons.

All the best

We prefer Kissimmee over I-Drive.

I-Drive is always congested and everything seems more expensive. Expect to pay a dollar or more for the same meal that you get on US192. Disney is also quick to get to from Kissimmee. The only advantage of I-Drive is that the Universal parks in theory are closer. However, use Universal Boulevard and the I-4 and there is not much in it.

I'm never one to bear a grudge and it's goals that count after all not how much possession a team has. I was quite happy to win the Premiership/old 1st division for the first time in my lifetime and to beat Liverpool in the League Cup Final. I'm glad you've got the chance to defend the Champions League it would have been wrong not to have had you in it. As for next season I feel that you will still fall short in catching up with the top three. Unfortunately due to work commitments my viewing of games is strictly on the tv nowadays but in my younger days I used to go home and away for many seasons. In those days it was usual to come away from Anfield with a defeat and I can remember one game in the seventies when Peter Bonetti got a huge ovation from the Liverpool fans when he put in a spectacular goalkeeping display albeit with a 2-0 defeat but it should have been 10-0!
More pleasurable were two FA Cup wins against you in the 3rd round winning 4-2 both times and a 2-0 5th round win when we were in the old 2nd division. :bounce:

Be lucky!

Hmm next season you are probably right, in case we can find another 'Abramovic'.
Hopefully Rafa can bring some good players in over the next few weeks, there are certainly plenty who are leaving the club.
Goalkeepers are always applauded, sort of a tradition - unless its ManU of course - I used to go home and away until I got married, now it's just the home games.
As for games between us we have always had a terrible record at 'the bridge'
and always generally lose.
If we can both win a trophy again next season I will be well happy.

Be Lucky!!

Arrived back Sunday, this was our 3rd visit to Orlando. The first time we stayed in a villa off the 192, 2nd on I Drive, without a car, and this time we stayed on site at Disney CSR for one week and 2 weeks at the Embassy suites I Drive with a car for the 3 weeks.

We have enjoyed all our holidays, and have managed to get around with or without a car.

It is true that on our second holiday we only went to disney for one day and had a taxi to take us and pick us up, but we used the I Ride trolleys to go to Sea world and Beltz and the Lynx bus system to go to the Floriday mall and Universal, the children really enjoyed this as they don't very often get the opportunity to use public transport at home because we drive everywhere.

We like the end of I Drive nearest to Seaworld and find it very convenient for resteraunts, mini golf, etc. Its sometimes nice not to have to get back into a hot roasting car and drive out to find something to eat, drink, etc, after a hard day at one of the parks.

However, if you need to buy supplies at the Supermarket, you can get more in your car than you can carry on a bus or trolley!!!
