Just got back from a great stay at the WL (12/10-12/13). We went down for Kirstin's 5th birthday, and it was totally magical!
Day 1
Arrived at the WL around 10:30am. Checked in, but they didn't have our room ready yet. No problem, as we had plans for the CP show at 6:45 and dinner at 8:30. Headed over to Epcot, rode Test Track, did a few other things, and got in line for CP. Marlee Matlin was amazing! DH and I cried through the whole show, it was that powerful. She just seemed so passionate about the story, and I had seen an interview with her and she said she could hear some loud sounds and feel vibrations, so when she tapped her hand along or danced to the music it was really touching to me. Also, the family from Extreme Makeover Home Edition that she was on were there in the audience. After the CP, we went to dinner at Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki. It was our first time there, and it was delicious! Called the WL from there and got our room #. When we arrived in our room there was a signed card to Kirstin from Snow White wishing her a happy birthday! We LOVED WL! We had room 4032 and could see the CR, as well as the monorail and the castle from our balcony, even though the trees were in the way a little. At night though, you could see the castle perfectly.
Day 2
Had breakfast at Whispering Canyon. This place is so much fun! Our waiter saw Kirstin's birthday button and introduced her to a girl named Lindsay who was at a table across from us who was also having a birthday. She was "sweet 16 and never been kissed" he said. Sooo, later on, he put Kirstin and Lindsay in the middle of the restaraunt (Kirstin was standing on a chair) and everyone sang "happy birthday" to them. Then, he got a 17 yr. old boy from across the restaraunt to come and give Lindsay a kiss!
After that, they both got free birthday cake. When we left WC, we headed over to MK (yes, on a Sat., I know it's nuts, but Kirstin got to pick the park that day since it was her day). When we got into the park, we saw the Mayor of Main Street,USA. We went over to him to ask if he would take a picture with Kirstin since it was her birthday. Well, he started SINGING "happy birthday" at the top of his lungs, right in the middle of the street! Then he said " I hereby proclaim that today is Kirstin's birthday!" Then EVERYONE ON MAIN ST. said Happy Birthday Kirstin all at once!!!! and yes, dh and I were crying again!
We had dinner that night at LTT, which as always, was very good. I had called in advance to order a cake, also very good. MK was open until midnight, but Kirstin fell asleep right after "Wishes" so we skipped Spectro and headed back to the WL.
Day 3
Headed over to MGM. Kirstin still was wearing her birthday buttons, so every cm was still telling her happy birthday. Had lunch at SciFi, it was o.k., not as good as I remembered. Saw the Osbourne Lights, they were beautiful! After walking through the lights, went to see Fantasmic. It was so cold this weekend!!!! We had bought a blanket the night before, so we all bundled up and enjoyed the show. Afterwards, headed back to the WL. My sister and her dh were staying at FW, so they rode their bikes over to visit. We all ordered take out from Roaring Forks and watched "Wishes" from our room.
Day 4
Time to go home
. Checked out of WL and headed to DTD. Kirstin had her picture taken with Santa, they turned out really cute. Did A LOT of shopping and headed for home. We didn't get back until about midnight, I'm still tired, lol! It was so worth it though. We will be back in May, my sister is getting married in Orlando and we are already planning to stay at WL again.
I did meet one DISer while I was there, I think his screen name is DisneyNmbNut or something like that? Sorry if I got it wrong! I was looking for lime green but never saw any! (although I did see a group wearing lime green shirts that said "Disney cheeseheads" on them. Are you DISers? And, Dan, if you read this, were you at Epcot on Friday? I thought I saw a man that looked like you (from what I see in your pics anyway!) at the entrance while we were there getting my sister's AP activated. Was that you? If it was, sorry I didn't say hello, I was a little shy about going up to someone to ask if they were a DISer or not....
