Kingdom Keepers V

Thanks for the advice on reading them in order. :thumbsup2 She didn't love the first but she didn't hate it either. But knowing one is on the Dream may motivate her to give the series another chance! She's hooked on Percy Jackson right now so maybe she can do those next.

When we did the Panama Canal cruise last year, Ridley Pearson was on board and I managed to get the first three books signed. In his presentation, he told us that it would be set on the Fantasy. I wonder why he changed it to the Dream.

Could be that they weren't sure of the release date of the book. If there was a chance it could be released earlier, the Fantasy might not have been sailing yet. It was probably safer to send it to the publisher while it was written about a ship that was currently sailing.

Me too.....near the end of book one of GOT but got excited about reading about this series...\

NO! You MUST finish reading book 1 at least then take a break then continue on with GOT! They are zoo good and book 2 is gonna have you in tears!

If you check out Ridley Pearson's website, it tells how he came up with the idea for the books.

The first time I came out of the Magic Kingdom with my family I looked back to realize all the guests were leaving but the characters were staying behind. I had a "Toy Story" moment. When the door to Andy's room, the toys all come alive. It occurred to me that when we all leave the parks, and characters have not, that there's stuff going on in there that we don't know about. What I envisioned was a battle for control of the parks between Disney's "wonderful" villains and his princesses, princes, heroes, and Characters. It was into that world I threw myself as a writer and out came the Kingdom Keepers.

Where do you get all the info for the KK books from?

I am very lucky in that Disney gives me private tours when the parks are closed. I get to walk the attractions and go on the rides when no one is around. It's special!

Makes you wonder if he got a private tour of the Dream and Castaway Cay. I"m guessing he did.

I've read all 4 and had pre-ordered 5 to be delivered to my Kindle last Tuesday. I would say that you should really start at book 1. They are an easy read for an adult, perfect for tweens! DH is even tempted to reread them from book 1, before he starts 5.

It's definitely a fun series, but there are tons of things that happen early on in the series that would make it all make sense!

Finished the 'Shell Game'. Nice to see the names of some of the crew in the book. Max at the sail away party and Christiaan (even though Pearson spells his name wrong). I heard that the next book is also on the cruise ship.

Yeah, had him sign his books on the PC transit - he's one funny guy.

I talked to him he on the PC cruise and he said the book would take place on the Dream - even though the Dream is to big for the Panama Canal. Literary license I guess.

He did/does get to private tours of the parks, ship, and island. He's talked about his tours with WDI and how they have helped him throughout his book writing. I'm a fan of the KK books and also the GoT books. In each book there's a slight recap of what has happened so far. I'd suggest reading each one in order just to get the full effect of each scenario.

I just requested my library purchase book #5. I'm still waiting for Blood Tide in the Neverland series to be available. The library bought it in Mp3 format and won't let anyone borrow it.:confused3 Makes no sense since none of the previous ones were in that format.

Definately read them in order. I read one book out of order because the library didn't have the previous one in yet. I waited a day or two before the book was due back before reading it in hopes the previous one would arrive.

Don't think they have them for the nook.

I just got the last book SHELL GAME on nook for iphone, its set on the Dream...great book so far and only cost $8 and change on barnes and noble nook and it downloaded in about 2 seconds flat! SUPER EASY!

That's awesome. I'd love to cruise with Pearson (and on the PC...LOL)

Thanks for the idea! I haven't started the first book yet, but my library takes a really long time getting requested items. Maybe by the time I'm finished with book 4, they'll have 5.

My daughter got Shell Game on Tuesday and finished reading it Saturday. She wanted to be done with it before we met Ridley at the St. Louis County Library this past Saturday night. He talked for about an hour and showed pictures from the Dream of some places below decks that he got to tour when he was writing the book. Then he did a short Q&A and then book signing. Great night and good speaker. I highly recommend doing one of these if he's near your area (we had to drive about 2.5 hours, but worth it.)My daughter and I both had on our DCL shirts (mine was the Dream's inaugural voyage) so before his talk, he walked over and talked to us about them. A lot of kids (including mine) brought all of their KK books and he graciously signed them all.
