MY DD is completely GAGA over a game called Kingdom Hearts. It is a PS2 game that has a boy Sora on an adventure with a variety of Disney Characters. Does anyone know if Sora is out and about anywhere in WDW or if I can get merchandise in WDW. The 2nd game comes out in March and I was hoping there would be promo stuff when we arrive in June.

We didn't see any Kingdom Heart characters when we were at WDW.
We hoped to see Sora at MNSSHP last year, but he wasn't out.
My son went to the party dressed as Sora.
I didn't see any KH merchandise, either. We looked all over for anything from KH, but didn't find it. Maybe we didn't look in the right place.

My son can't wait for the next game next month.

Sora was at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party back in 2004, but not at 2005. I heard he is a character that is not owned by Disney World, and was visiting when at the Halloween party. I have no idea if that's true, but I don't think he's ever been seen out meeting since October 2004. Would be great if he returns! :)

Disney also had Goofy and Donald dressed in their Kingdom Hearts gear, but I don't know if they ever made more appearances dressed like that since October 2004.

I confess i am a 25 year old Kingdom Hearts Fan!!! I can't wait for the next one to come and i already have it preordered!!! :thumbsup2

I would love to see Donald and Goffy dressed up in thier gear if anyone does know if and where and when they show like that please let me know. :goodvibes

Thanks :duck:

My son is a huge Kingdom of Hearts fan! He's counting down the days till #2 is released! When we went last year, he searched high and low for merchendise. The only thing he ended up finding and had to have was the Gameboy Advance game lol Of course he bought it, even though he had the PS2 one at home :teeth:

All sound like my DD. I always have an eye open fro KH stuff. Suncoast had some stuff in their store here bu our biggest find was at an Anime convention. It was all from Japan..........she went NUTS.

I was hoping that there would be stuff at wdw but it sounds unlikely

Sora isn't a Disney character, he belongs to a video game company in Japan called Square/Enix. You won't find him or any of the other non-Disney Kingdom Hearts characters in the parks unless it's during a marketing push for the game being done jointly with Disney and Square.

FWIW, please don't let your children get their hearts set on a March release...mine have had their KH2 reserved for over a year and a half! and they're still waiting...and waiting...and (not so patiently) waiting. Can't imagine why it's taking sooo long :confused3

Actually, Sora, Riku, Kairi, and even the XIII Organization from KH2 are all owned by Disney. That was part of the agreement made in order to use the disney properties.

Disney has the rights to any non-final fantasy characters for movies, comics, tv shows, and future games. Also, for in-park attractions.

With KH2 kicking off soon, I would expect to see something small (mainly a kiosk at innoventions with the game, and the game appearing in stores with a standup or something).

Considering both Disney and Square/Enix are planning on continuing this franchise and expanding it (depending on sales of KH2, which pre-orders already show will outsell KH1 by a very high amount), there may be increased presence. But, truthfully, unless they start doing an animated show (just rumoured right now), or a movie (also rumoured on KH2 fansites, but no real basis for these so I have no idea where that came from), there probably won't be much in the park.

March 28 is official, from Square Enix - that is the ONLY release date that has ever been published. Anythign else was just retail stores dragging people in.

As for what took so long... they added some content for the North American release, not to mention the list of voice actors! This is a big budget production, with voice talent including including haley joel osment (Sora, of course), most Disney characters are voiced by their original voices (no johnny depp, but the guy who played TRON is doing the voice for him), David Boreanz is coming back as Squall/Leon, and the one I am most excited about, Christopher Lee is doing a voice (DiZ, i beleive)!

Of course his father and I said No Way!! I told him that I would go and pick it up and that it would be waiting for him when he gets home.

Can anyone tell me how to find out when an Anime tour or festival may be close to our home?

Thank you,
Kris :)

Interesting...I didn't know that. I remember the rumors that Disney was going to buy Squaresoft outright....glad that never happened. Still, unless Disney does create a KH show, I doubt you'll ever see the characters in the park.

The thought of a Toon Disney KH show makes me cringe.

OMG I love this game. My son thought it would be a kick to buy Mom a PS2 for Xmas last year as I'm always playing games online. He bought me Kingdom Hearts to play cuz he knows what a huge Disney nut I am. Although it was tough for me I absolutely loved it. The way the mixed the Japanese characters with the Disney characters and melded the two story lines was fantastic. Very cool for a Disney fan, young or old lol.

One of the biggest around is Otakon. It is at the Convention center inner harbor. I took my DD last year and she had a great time.

www.otakon.com
Hotels go quick but the price for the 3 days is reasonable.65 bucks
