My DH is going on an interview for a company that is located near the King of Prussia mall. If he does get this job we will most likely move out that way. Do any of you live out that way? I have a DD6 and a DS3 so I would like to find an area that has great schools and is safe. Any recommendations on a nice town to live in would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I don't know much about the school system becoz we stayed there b4 kids but there are quite a few safe towns nearby. You can do malvern, exton, downingtown all within driving distance. Downingtown has great apartments which are very affordable.

I live about 10 minutes west of KOP and live in the Methacton school district. I don't have any kids, but from what I understand, the school district is really good. They are building a new school building for grades 5 and 6, 7 and 8 will remain in the middle school and the elementary schools will be K-4. The building should be opened next year.

I work in KOP and the commute isn't that bad. There is traffic on 422 every morning, but depending on the schedule, it can be avoided. I have a somewhat flexible schedule, so I usually leave around 8:45 and am in work by 9. If I were to leave earlier, it would likely take me even longer.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks for the responses. I will see what I can find in the areas that have been suggested.:thumbsup2

3 words... Methacton School District.

I live where I do BECAUSE of how good the school district is. And it is just 10 minutes from the mall.

Most anywhere in the school district is safe, and nice... though like anywhere, we have some poor folks and some really rich folks.

Also Check out homes in the Perkiomen Valley and Spring Ford school districts. Towns would be Collegeville, Schwenksville, Royersford, Limerick. 422 can be a mess in the morning, but if he adjusts his schedule accordingly, he should be fine. If he leaves before 7:30 or after 8:30, it won't be as bad.

I love Collegeville. Especially off the main roads.

We live in Broomall and really like it here! We have a blue ribbon school and our taxes are very low compared to a lot of surrounding townships. We're about 20 minutes from KofP in Delaware County.

You can feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

My in-laws also live in Newtown Square which is also nice but the taxes are higher.

Tredyffrin/Easttown School District with schools located in the Berwyn, Valley Forge, and Wayne areas is a great school district. Their high school is always listed in the top 100 high schools in the country based on academics. Hands down my first choice out of all of the schools in the area. However, having said that there are several very good school districts in that area too(Great Valley, Downingtown, West Chester, Radnor, Rose Tree Media just to name a few).

Great area to move to! We lived in the area for many years before moving back to the Lehigh Valley. I still visit frequently. Love it!

I live and work in King of Prussia and love it here! Low property taxes (because of the nice big mall and other industry), no local income tax (sometimes called Berkheimer tax in this area), and good schools. The residential areas are quite nice (mostly situated away from the mall and other businesses.)

The areas recommended by previous posters are all very nice too. However, I will caution you that 422 during rush hour is awful. I commuted on 422 from Collegeville and Skippack areas for several years and I don't think it has improved at all. JMHO.

I wish your DH good luck on his interview and if all goes well, good luck on your home search too!
