Ok I have'nt been to Universal Studios in prolly 4 or 5 years, and will be going in dec. I just heard not to long ago that they took the ride King Kong out and replaced it with something new. Is this true?? What did they put in place of it??

Kongfrontation has been replaced by Revenge of the Mummy, an indoor dark ride/roller coaster combo.

But Kong hasn't been forgotten. The new ride has a few sly nods to the old ape. Universal's own version of hidden Mickeys.:p

What! they're getting rid of all the good rides. Why couldn't they have gotten rid of Twister and Earthquake, because they were a load of rubbish!

Kong also left his ghost/curse...

We were thinking of paying an extra $22 dollars so that we could do both parks in one day. Twister was one of the rides that was not at Studio's when we were there before. Kong wasn't that great! I was really looking forward to twister after seeing the movie.

Don't worry, it's not THAT bad.

I'm kidding!!:hyper:

It is pretty disappointing to be honest. All i remember is standing in a room watching a tv screen of a twister going on. Did the Ghostbusters ride used to be there.

I like Twister better than I did King Kong. It just seems like Twister is a little short, and you do wait in a room watching a screen while you are waiting for the audience that went in before you to get done with the "show", (wouldn't exactly call it a ride.) It also seems that depending on which row you are in you get different effects. Can't remember which row for what though. But I wouldn't skip Twister. You may not like it, but how will you know if you don't at least do it once?

Ah, Twister.... Universal's worst attraction... ever. "Twister, ride it out!" should be "Twister, stand and watch it out!"

I agree. Instead of getting rid of the rides which are decent or classic, get rid of the rubbish ones. I mean everyone knows king kong and Hanna Barbera, but whos seen Earthquake in New York and Twister. They weren't even good films

Yeah, I never saw the Earthquake film and the ride was just okay to me. But I did like the movie Twister and thought the ride was okay. Not my favorite but not my least favorite either. I guess everyone will have a different opinion about that though. ;)

Don't worry too much. I enjoyed Twister, even the silly cow that flies by. ;) The queue is cool and the effects are pretty good. Get in the front row and check out what's playing at the drive-in. Also, watch some of the windows in the businesses nearby.

I too enjoy twister. My biggest disappointment in this attraction, was when I realized that it wasn't a ride at all, but a standing attraction. Although it is very good in it's own right, standing in line to see an attraction then standing to experience it, just isn't exactly what we expect in a new attraction. We want motion, speed, thrills! :hyper: Never the less, it is definitely worth seeing.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Kongfrontation down alot? It seems like everytime that I was there, it was down at some point during the day. I wondered if that wasn't the reason for it being the attraction that was scrapped to make room for another. Plus, I guess that it didn't hurt that the building was exactly what they needed for the Mummy.

My family did enjoy Hanna Barbera, and we don't feel that Jimmy Neutron is much of an improvement. Same ride...different movie!
We were a little disappointed that they didn't do better with this one, with all the technology available now.

Yeah, it seems like everytime we were there, Kong was down for a little while too. I wasn't crazy about Kong and feel it was outdated. I think the Mummy was a definite improvement, and the Kong fans still can see a mini tribute inside the ride if they look hard enough.
Now, Earthquake seems to break down a lot while I am there too. Wonder if that will be the next to go?! :scratchin

Oh God, the irony. That thing was down the entire day yesterday.

Although it's old & had it's problems, Kong is the type of ride people form an attachment to....similar to Haunted Mansion or Pirates/Car.

Every trip, I look forward to seeing my old familiar characters(kong, Jaws, ET) while getting intro to the new, exciting stuff.

I don't think anyone would form the same attachment to Earthquake

Yeah, if Earthquake was the next to go, I think I, for one, would survive!

exactly. they should never have gotten ride of Funtastic World of Hanna Barbera, knocked down earthquake and built the Mummy over Earthquake. Nickelodean characters already have a studio and personally Nickelodean could never beat Hanna Barbera. King Kong i just enjoyed the atmosphere more than the ride.
