Is a King bed extremely difficult to get when booking a standard room at Grand Floridian? It's not a huge deal, but we'll be on our honeymoon and it would be nice.

I'm also going on my honeymoon to wdw! Goingin November...I requested a king...hope we get it!

DH and I stayed at GF twice and both times requested a king and both times were told it was only available in the suites. :sad2: We were quite comfortable though.

When we went, we requested a king also. We had booked a garden view... when we checked in, we found out that they had upgraded us to a castle view in Big Pine Key w/ a king bed. :dance3:

Now, we made our reservations over the phone w/ Disney and I was on the phone FOREVER with the nicest CM. She was a doll and seemed to have as much fun as me planning our trip...so maybe that helped. Good luck !!!

Just tell them you are disabled and need a disabled room.
This is not my idea but something I learned from the disABILITIES here.

what happens when someone who IS actually disabled can't get a disabled room ? Doesn't seem quite right .....

it depends on when you are going down and the crowd level of the resort.
i booked a theme park view over the phone and requested a king bed, also noting that it was my honeymoon and I was given a king bed...2 actually (the first room was not a theme park view by any standard) so my guess would be at a non peak time you would have a decent chance

I hate to inform you, but most, if not all the handicapped rooms at the Deluxe, DVC, and Moderates have 2 queen beds. There may be some exception at the Value resorts

If I was there the same time as you at the GF & we were checking in at the same time & they gave me a king I would give it up for you.

But I am going in August 2013 & staying at the Poly with my 3 kids & we don't have a suite so we aren't getting a King so I am sorry.

Oh & honeymoon...yep you need a king...it makes more comfy sleeping positions :rotfl2: Have a great time & happy wedding & happy honeymoon!

Did they change out some rooms? we stayed there a few years back and were booked gv with two queens. At check in the cm asked if my girls would sleep on a queen sofa sleeper if they could see cinderella's castle. That room, in Boca Chica was a king room with pull out sofa, theme park view (before they made that a paid view).

We're going May 2013. I think either way it will be a magical honeymoon and it would be nice to have a king, but we don't HAVE to have one. We will just go with the flow. :)

There are some standard rooms with king beds, as others have posted, but they are few. As you've said, put it on your requests and ask again at check in - with it being your honeymoon, I think you have a decent chance of getting one if the resort isn't full.:thumbsup2

Best wishes for your upcoming wedding.:lovestruc
