King beds at POP

No. According to the Pop FAQ, which hasn't steered me wrong yet, there are 81 standard king rooms and 63 accessible king rooms.

We have stayed in a King room with a tub. It was overlooking the lake in the 50's section.

We have stayed in a non-HC king room at Pop. We always request the 80s, building 9, because we feel that (walking across the non-busy parking lot) it's the shortest distance to the bus stops. :)

So I made my reservation online for my POP stay in January. There was nowhere for me to indicate a king size request. I called to see if I could make that request and the woman on the phone told me that double beds are the standard and the only king size rooms are the HC ones and I would have to wait until I check in to see if that kind of room is available. :confused3: A little bummed as I was hoping to put the request in (even though I know it wouldn't be guaranteed). Anyone have thoughts on this?

Keep in mind that when you call Disney, you're speaking with a call center rep whose information is only as good as her training. You aren't actually speaking with someone at the front desk of the resort you dialed and the person taking your call may or may not even have set foot on Disney property. Generally speaking you'll get better info on the DIS because here if someone posts something untrue a half-dozen other posters will be along shortly to correct it; WDTC call centers don't have nearly as effective quality control!

There are non-HC king rooms. I'm not sure about the request process, though. I'm a little surprised it isn't a check-box choice in the online check-in system, though perhaps it is and I just haven't seen it because we've had too many people for a king room on our past stays. Personally I'd just call back and hope to get a more knowledgeable or cooperative CM to note the request on your reservation.

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, 1st time poster :)

OP, my darling boyfriend and I are staying at POP in Jan. as well. We called Disney and requested a King bed room. They stated it was only a request and not guaranteed (we knew that already though, so its not a problem :)) They do have HC and non-HC king rooms; they asked if we needed an HC one (no, but thanks for asking!) Right after the call was finished, I checked the ressie on the website and under 'special requests' was 'king bed room'. Pretty simple as long as you get a knowledgeable CM on the call. Enjoy your vacation; I know we will :wizard:

Welcome Disney38Girl!

We have stayed in a Pop king room several times, and it's always been HC, so we thought that's all there was! Next time, I'm requesting non-HC!

I've requested a king room at Pop in January. I (apparently incorrectly!) assumed that most of the guests at Pop were families with kids and that king bed requests would not be common but clearly I was very, very wrong! Hopefully there will be a king room available for me when I go!

Yay for a fellow NJer staying at POP in January! Thanks for the info, I guess I should try and call again and hope this time I could get the request put in! Enjoy your vacation as well :)

Thanx for all the replies - but.....as we are going in January as well, I have a feeling from the post that all the non-HC King rooms are going to be taken, lol!

We are going to be staying at POP as well and I'm curious if you have a family of three and request a king they overlook it, since three in one bed may not seem practical. W have never received a king and request it every time.

Room occupancy in a king bed room is 2 plus one under the age of three.

I've had a king bed room at POP...bldg 1, back side facing the shrubbery. It wasn't HC.

Two years ago my family of 5 stayed at POP. I requested 2 adjoining rooms with a king in one and dbls in the other. The call center person said they would put it on my reservation but it wasn't guaranteed. We got it! The king room was not handicapped. I think we were in the 80's section as well.
