When I stayed at Pop Century for my honeymoon in 2005, my travel agent requested a king bed, but said she could not guarantee it. When we arrived, they placed us in a double bed room for one night, and then switched us to a king bed room for the rest of our stay.

When I stayed at Pop Century again this January, my travel agent said the same thing regarding the king bed. When we got to the hotel, the CM gave us a hard time about this, saying it hadn't been requested ahead of time. After a few minutes of making some phone calls, he granted us a king bed.

Is there a way to request this ahead of time?? I saw online that I can book an accessible room, but it's more expensive. Is this my only option?

I"m thinking that the accessible rooms are in the preferred section
I would have your travel agaent call & make sure the request is in
but there is a limited amount of King beds & if someone who needs an accessible room should get those first over someone who just wants a King bed but I"m sure you understand that

Are there any king beds that are NOT accessible rooms?

We went in Sep 2011 and requested a King ahead of time. I really didn't care about location, a King bed was our priority, we did get our request.

How did you book? Online? I don't see how to request it. I've booked through a travel agent in the past, but they always say it can't be guaranteed. Then when I check in, they usually tell me the travel agent didn't request one. :confused3

I'm not 100% sure. Anytime we request a King Bed at Pop, we get it and they have always been accessible, but not sure if all of them are.

The only reason that it should have been more is a preferred location, they don't charge more for accessible rooms.

If you go at a busier time, the accessible rooms may all be booked and if they are all accessible, it is a possibility there will not be one available for someone who doesn't need it.

Have you looked into booking at a Moderate resort, King bed is a bookable option there?

I ALWAYS call and make my own reservations and add my requests, giving them the most important request first. Still doesn't mean you will get it, but more likely.

In my past experience, TA's only do the minimum. For our upcoming trip, I booked my own reservation and then switched it to a TA, since I sort of know her. But, that isn't something I would normally do, I like the freedom to change my reservations, but this will keep, me from doing that or DH will hang me.

I don't want to book a moderate resort, since I really like Pop Century, and don't see the need in paying so much extra for a moderate.

I just wish there was a way to guarantee getting a King Bed without causing a problem at check-in. The CM last time was annoyed.

I don't know of any. If the CM was annoying, ask for another one.

Book the reservation yourself and then you will know whether that you made the request.
