I've had my Kindle for over a year, and lucked out! It took me a long time to decide to get one- but the idea of not packing a HUGE suitcase full of paperbacks when I go on vacation was thought provoking.
When I ordered it, DH wasn't interested in ereaders at all! I ordered it at the 2nd highest price ($359)- but had $125 in
Amazon gift codes AND within a month the price had dropped by $60 and Amazon refunded the difference to my charge card!
So, my $359 Kindle only ended up costing me $174. And within a couple of months, DH was 'borrowing' it to read some samples that I'd downloaded for him. I thought that if he played with it- the inevitable would happen... and it did.
So now we've become a 2 Kindle family! Covers, skins, Borsa Bella bags and all! He's been doing transcontinental traveling lately, and every time he gets back, and when he calls me during the trip- he's always saying 'I love my Kindle'!
He used to do nothing but work and sleep (with a regular dose of Disney to de-stress), but now he's reading much more than he ever has- thanks to his Kindle. Oh, he used to go through bunches of puzzle books when traveling too.

It's SO easy to switch between books and I don't want to stop reading. There is absolutely NO eye fatigue as was the case with the Kindle app on my Droid. I went to bed at midnight last night and when I went to turn my Kindle off, it was 2AM. 
With the Droid, I could do one chapter, before I got sleepy. I may have to rethink my bedtime routine...
