Kindle w Ads-experience?

We are thinking of adding a Kindle in our house. We have a 2nd generation one now. The $79 fits our budget, but I am concerned about how distracting the ads will be.

Anyone have one and can share their opinion?

The ads aren't distracting at all. They take the place of the screensavers you are used to seeing, and when you go to your Home screen there is a small banner ad at the very bottom of the screen. Not at all bothersome. They disappear as soon as you select a book. They DO NOT show up while you are reading.

If you get it and it bothers you you can pay extra to deactivate them. But I bet you will find them to be just fine. Also, you will have access to the Special Offers - those are usually some sort of coupon on an Amazon product. I've easily saved the cost of the Kindle buying things from the Special Offers list I would have bought anyway.

Yup.. ads are just the screensavers. Not in the middle of books or anything.

I have one with and one without. I actually like the one with the special offers better, as I have taken advantage of a couple of the offers!

I love my Kindle with Special Ads. I have saved enough money with the special ads to pay for my K3 with 3G.... so $139. It is no distracting at all. They are just like the dead author screen savers that the older ones have. I highly recommend one. I love my Kindle.

It comes with a charger but a case is separate. You can find them for all different prices it depends on what you want.

One of the first special offers I got was for a great discount on a cover! I have gotten some great offers on my Kindle!

I love my Kindle with special offers! I wouldn't buy a new kindle without the offers. I love the $1 book specials they send all the time and I wouldn't want to give it up.

Order it now while it's in stock. I don't think the price on this one will ever be better until/unless there's a 2nd or 3rd generation - and it will sell out fast if that ever happens (see Kindle 2 Lightning Deal, Black Friday 2010... oh, wait; you can't because they disappeared before most of us could get the site to load).

Does the Kindle come with its own case and charger?

You may want to look more on Amazon's page if you're wanting one of the newer Kindles because I know one of the newer models (maybe all? IDK) only come with the USB cord to charge the Kindle that way, so if you go on vacation without a laptop you can't plug it in unless you buy the adapter.
