:rotfl2::rotfl2: I'm the dummy for this post :thumbsup2

Anyhow, DD has asked for a kindle for her birthday, and as usual I have obliged :worship:

She loves reading and I'm not going to discourage it :thumbsup2

I'm so used to iTunes as I have numerous products owned by them

My query is, can I purchase a ebook on iTunes and will it transfer to the kindle, or does it have to purchased on amazon?

All help will be appreciated :)

I think you can only buy e books from Amazon for the Kindle. That is the only place I get mine from.

You have to get them from Amazon and the books are wirelessly transmitted to the Kindle. This definitely beats having to download them on a computer first and then synchronizing the reader with it.

sorry to hijack this thread but do amazon retain a copy of your library, like youe i tunes library so you can re install it if there is a problem?

Yes, when I had to have my Kindle changed I was able to send all the books I had to my new Kindle:thumbsup2 You set up a Kindle account which stores your books:goodvibes

Sorry i'm going to hijack your thread too :flower3:

My ds10 is keen for a kindle but are there a wide range of kids books available for it?

Hijack away folks :thumbsup2

DD been looking for Harry potter, but we carnt seem to find the j k Rowling ones!

She busy looking in shops for books then searching online for them, :thumbsup2

Will let you know as she looking again tonight

for the kindle not only can you re-download books later (this is not only useful for backups but for if you eventually have more books then will fit on the device itself) but you can also use the same account for multiple kindles. I think up to 5. So when my husband buys a book I can get it on my kindle, his kindle, or either of our cell phones that have the kindle app (not as good to read on but useful for when you forgot your kindle)

Hi I love my kindle but beware of one clickitis! It very very easy to buy and download books and you may want to consider giving your daughter a monthly budget, to buy a book takes seconds once it is set up. There are always free books as well have a look on amazon in kindle store and you will see the top 100 free books?

But be aware that not all books are available on Kindle... I 'shop' for books then buy then on my Kindle but they arent always available. It might be worth having a look on Amazon and seeing what kids books are available, it should say. Xx

She has clickitis already with iPad apps :rotfl2:

Was thinking of buying one of the prepaid visa/ master cards that u can get in whsmiths etc. Then it's loaded up, and once used it all gone.

I am sure I read somewhere that J K Rowling is not happy for them to be released in electronic form. Therefore any available online are not likely to be approved versions.
Given the rise of ereaders, iBooks etc hopefully JKR will see this as a new source of readers :)

When the Pottermore website was announced she said that ebooks of all Harry Potter books would be released through that platform for the first time.

You could get her Amazon gift card/code that would act the same way as a pre paid Visa:thumbsup2
