I'm researching Kindle covers or cases does anyone have opinions on whats best? The Kindle leather covers seem to have problems, does anyone know if this is true? Thanks

I just got a leather case with a light in it! No problems so far! I like that it is protected on my purse, good luck with your decision

It's the leather cover without the light that have issues. I have one and sometimes my kindle to randomly restart and not save my place in whatever book I was reading at the time. I've been using my kindle without it and have had no restarting issues, so I'm pretty sure it's the cover.

I also have a leather case, with reading light, that I bought directly from Amazon and I love it. I even chose lime green!

I have the Kindle cover with the light and LOVE IT!! :cheer2:

Keeps my Kindle protected in whatever bag I am using and the light has been awesome when in hotel rooms with a DH who wants to go to sleep before I do.

They were having some problems with the Amazon non-lighted covers shorting out the Kindle 3. I believe they redesinged the hooks and have fixed that problem.

I have 2 different covers.

An Oberon which is incredibly beautiful on my Kindle 2 and a lighted cover on my Kindle 3. As much as I love the workmanship on the Oberon, I would never own anything but a lighted cover again. It works so much better than a separate clip-on light.

Add me to the list of owners with the leather cover and integrated light. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!!!

So the cover with the light has not had the same problems? Is the light powered by a battery or the Kindle?

Ive had the lighted cover since the kindle 3 came out. No problems like the ones described whatsoever. I love the fact that the light is always handy and stores away conveniently. The light is powered by the kindle so I dont need to worry about replacing little tiny battery cells just for the light.

The cover is sturdy and protects the kindle well without adding too much bulk and weight. I can easily fold the front back and behind the kindle if I want to read with one hand or I can hold it like a book with both hands. The elastic that holds the cover closed is a nice feature. It just stretches back and out of the way when reading. Much better than having a flap or tab that you have to hold out of the way when the cover is open.

Its not as pretty as the oberon covers but then it is not as expensive either. I would love to see a slot for an ID card in the cover so that if I happen to misplace my kindle the finder can figure out how to get it back to me more easily. But overall those are minor flaws. I also think that the price is a little high considering that the cover sells for $60 and a wi-fi k3 sells for $140.

This is good to know. I am so tempted to get a K3 but I hate giving up the great accessories for my K2... like my Guardian, my M-Edge cover that stores the E-Luminator. Even my DD said the other day, "Mom... just use your K2 as the beach/lake/bathtub/whatever Kindle and get a new one!"

I got the M-Edge Capital Kindle jacket, and I love it. I chose that one because it seemed like the zipper closure would offer better protection if I tossed it in my purse/backpack.

It is not lighted, but has room to store the e-luminator light if you buy it separately (which I've already told DH would make an excellent Mother's Day gift ;)).

I didn't want the bulk of a cover on my Kindle, so I didn't go with the more common notebook style cover. Instead, I have a sticker on the Kindle itself (which protects it from little scratches and makes it pretty) and if it's not in my hand, it's in a quilted bag. I'm not really a high-risk user, so this is enough protection for my Kindle.

I don't carry my Kindle around all that much, but if I do, I make sure that it's packed up against a clipboard or something else large and flat in my tote bag. If I'd gone with a heavier, notebook style cover, this wouldn't be necessary.

Here are the websites where I purchased my protective items:

Sticker: http://www.decalgirl.com/
Bag: http://www.borsabella.com/

On the other hand, I have a notebook style cover for my new ipad. I like to put it in front of me on the table sometimes, so the kickstand type cover that "lifts" the screen is nice. What I don't care for is that it's just solid black.

I want to find a bag to tote them both together, but we aren't vacationing again for several months, so I don't need to hurry on that.

I like to read my Kindle "naked". I bought the thing because its so lightweight and small so I didn't want to bulk it up with an attached cover. I went with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Timbuk2-Quilt..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0SSWY6S84EVE2ERHRX3Z

Works great for what I needed it for.

I got this one too!! In the red. I love it. It's very secure, well padded, thick enough if you drop it the kindle won't get damaged. Also nice for if you throw it in a bag and something spills inside the bag. I think I may also order the lighted leather cover for times that I want to read in bed at night or on an airplane as examples. I do like to store the kindle in the timbuk2 because it's totally enclosed and I feel like it's protected.

Another vote for the Kindle cover with light. I like that it bulks up the Kindle a little. Feels like a small hardcover/large paperback book to me. The "naked" Kindle felt too fragile to me.

No problems with the cover or the light. I can read with only that light on in the room, no problem.
