I am going to order a cover for my stepmother's birthday. Under the heading "style", I am able to choose between "Cover with Corners" or "Cover with Velcro."

What do they mean? Which would you pick? Thanks!

The Oberon covers come in the two styles (velcro and straps).

The velcro style comes with a large swatch of velcro that attaches to the back of your kindle and matches the other swatch attached to the leather cover. The velcro is what holds your Kindle in the cover.

The strap style comes with three leather corner straps and one "bungee" style strap and they are what hold your Kindle in place.

I chose the corner straps as I wasnt keen on gluing velcro to the back of the Kindle.

Others find the thin black straps obtrusive and would rather not be able to see them.

It's all personal choice.

I was just reading on the amazon Kindle discussion forums that the folks at Oberon are on vacation until 1/11/10. If that makes a difference, you may want to check.

I also read that someone found a design on another Oberon item that is not usually offered as a Kindle cover design and called the company asking about the availability of that design as a Kindle cover. They were told that it would not be an issue and that they would be happy to make that design as a Kindle cover.

Just something to keep in mind.

They have videos on the web site showing the different attachment methods

I opted for the corner straps. They hold the Kindle snugly in place. You cannot overstate the quality and craftsmanship of the covers. One thing that surprised me was how substantial the cover is. This is not some thin floppy leather. It will provide real protection for your Kindle. The down side, if there is one, is that it almost doubles the weight of your Kindle. Cover and all, it still smaller and weighs less than a mid-size hard cover. If you can live with the extra weight, I highly recommend the Oberon cover.

Update: I had to run out mid post. I just wanted to add that the cover is pretty easily removed should you want to. It can be folded back easily. Of course, you can also hold it like open like a traditional book. Some have commented on missing the "feel and smell of a real book". If this is a concern, the Oberon cover is definitely for you. It turns you Kindle into a classic leather journal. A perfect melding of the old world with the new. Finally, the most important feature is the protection it provides your Kindle investment. The additional grip options make it easier to hold on to. Should you accidentally drop it on a hard surface, your Kindle will be well protected.

Thank you both for the retailed information. I think I will go with the corner strap method. Her birthday is Febraury 7th, so I imagine I will be able to get it in time despite their winter break. Thanks again!

Thanks for the information. I really like the Fairy design in the card holder, but they didn't have anything I loved (I liked quite a few) in the Kindle cover. I was going to settle for something I liked until I read above that other designs can be adapted to the Kindle cover. :goodvibes What great news. DH bought me a very nice Amazon cover, but now he wants a Kindle, so he will get my Amazon cover.:lmao: I am very spoiled. :goodvibes

If you get a chance, read the reviews on the various covers on AMAZON. Some covers are doing damage with the hinges by cracking the case, which voids the warrenty. The Cole Hann are top rated, which is what I ended up getting for mine.
