Kindle as a Gift?

Hello all. I have had my Kindle for a month and am head over heels in love with it. So, since the parents are so hard to buy for, I thought I get them one for Christmas (one for mom/stepdad and one for stepmom). I feel bad that mom and stepdad will have to share but I can't afford one for each of them.

My question is . . . what if they don't like it? Can they return it for an Amazon giftcard? I ordered them with the "gift" option so they should not be connected to my credit card. Do you know if there is any way I can confirm that without having to open the box?

Thanks for your help and suggestions.
