I have just started using the Kindle & Nook app's for the ipad. I was looking at the Kindle how to online and it says I can make collections for my books to organize them.

My question is, I can't figure out how to do that on the ipad App. Is this only something I can do w/an actual Kindle? Also I can't figure out how to Archive my books w/the app. W/the Nook I can go online and archive my books, but I can't seem to figure out how on the Kindle.

I don't have the ipad, but my mother does and I set the kindle up on it for her. I think maybe you drag one book "on top" of another to link them together in a category -- then maybe a prompt comes up to name it?

Good thought, but it didn't work. (That is how you make folders on the ipad though.)

I looked on my Android app and it doesn't give you the option to archive on the app itself, nor do you have the option to create folders on the app. You probably need to do it on a Kindle. I looked on the website and you can't archive it there either, nor can you make folders. I know on the Nook app you just do a long hold and an options screen comes up and you select archive or move to folder (but the Kindle people keep telling me how much easier a Kindle is to use :rolleyes1).

Bummer I was hoping I was just missing something. I keep going back and for to which I like better. I think the Kindle store is better (easier to find books etc), and I think the ipad app is better (Nook App keeps crashing, when you switch rotation it sometimes changes pages). But I think not being able to organize my books may be a deal breaker. Hmmmm. What to do, what to do.

After reading the books on my iPad 2, I delete them. At any time if I want to reread a book, I can go to my digital orders on Amazon and download it to the iPad. This keeps my Kindle app page uncluttered.

Really??? I think the BN is far better for finding books--especially the free books. All you have to do there is type in 0.00 or free and they all pop up. Amazon doesn't do that.

I use both the Kindle and Nook apps on my phone and I haven't had any issues with either of them crashing. When you rotate for both apps, the page changes because more can fit on a page sideways on the pad and phone. Have you upgraded to the most current version of Nook? I much prefer the Nook app and Nook. It is a lot easier to use, categorize, etc.

to archive...swipe over the book title and the archive option will appear on right

Sorry, don't know about the categories, I archive my books after i'm done reading.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That is what I was looking for. I can live w/o being able to catagorize them, but I wanted to at least archive them when I was done so they weren't cluttering up my booklist.

I just downloaded the app's a couple of weeks ago and the Nook app (on my phone & ipad) crash at least once every time I try to read it. As for the page, I know that you can get more on the page depending but when it rotates back and forth I'm on a totally different page than I was before. Sometimes it's only a page sometimes it's several. The Kindle app always has me on the correct page.

And yes, I find the Kindle Store much easier to use. I just signed up for a website that send me email when new Kindle books go free. I've gotten several free books in the last couple of days, plust a bunch of cheap ones with their Sunshine deals that had been on my to read list.

We just bought my daughter a Nook for her birthday. Maybe after awhile I'll figure out the Nook Store, but so far all I've been is frustrated w/the Nook & Nook App. But I chose the Nook because they have a better selection of Children's books & they have the Library checkout.

Maybe uninstall and reinstall the Nook app-sounds like something didn't load right. I have been using my Nook app for almost a year and haven't had any issues at all.

.

There is a way to do this on Amazon, I have seen other people do it but I have just never really bother learning how to do it since Amazon has a top 100 free books list, plus you can tell it to sort by by lowest price first and all the free books show up.

Some people find Amazon's way of doing things easier and some people find Barnes and Noble's way easier. Just like PC and Mac.
