I have 3 birthday parties next week for DD's friends at kindergarten.

1 party is at a paint-your-own pottery place, the other is 2 girls together (not related) at Build-a-Bear.

Anyone have cheap, nice, ideas for gifts times 3?!

2 girls, 1 boy!

THANKS!

How about all the games that are out--and inexpensive? My kids loved to play Candyland and Shoots and Ladders. Ants in the Pants, even Cooties!.

Or, if there's a Dollar Store near you, they always have stickers, etc. Coloring books, crayons. PlayDough.

Luckily, that age is easy for inexpensive gifts.

How much were you planning on spending per child?

If it's $10 and under, Target (before Christmas) had board games for under $10. DD likes the game Trouble.

For the boy, you could get a Nerf football, all boys like Nerfs.

Or you could get them gift cards to the movies, Target, McD., Chic Fil A.

I usually base the price on how close my kids are to the person who is having a party.

If it's $15-20, I usually get a $10 gift card to the movies, then get a Popcorn movie bag (or Target had plastic Popcorn containers in the $1 spot), I fill it with movie type candy and put the gift card in it

OR

I get a $10 GC from Blockbuster, buy the unpopped popcorn bucket from there, put some candy, a Sprite and the GC in it.

Girls also like little nail kits, you can usually get those at Walmart or Target for $5-10.

I think Target sales Build a Bear outfits, you could get a couple of those for the B-A-B parties.

Hope this helps.

There must be something about Kindergarten and January birthdays! DD has invitations to 3 parties already this month (and one more to come that we know of!) :rotfl:

What we usually get for the boys is some kind of Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars and small playset. We've also got some art stuff for a few others (like the Color Wonder markers and paper, art set, etc.)

We haven't been to too many girl parties lately, but ususally there's a Barbie something or other that isn't too expensive (if you have a Target or Wal-Mart nearby)...

Hope this helps!

Boys:

I got a rocket for a boy at the local toy store-it uses a rubber band to shoot & I want to say it was around $15.

A lego set

Something that has to do with Hot Wheels/Match Box cars (not like a ton of cars though, like 1 car & something to play with).

I remember seeing in TRU, a build your own where the Home Depot toys were, like build your own bird house kit.

Girls:

Crafts, my dd loves them, she loves to paint & do jewelry.

For Christmas I (well my BIL) just got her one of those jewelry making kits that you bake. You put the plastic in the metal shape then bake it. They came out cute.

I just took my 5 yo to a birthday party the last week of Dec for a 5 yo girl-she picked out one of those Klutz books, a pen & a cup cake shaped metal (but colored) box (for jewelry & small things to put in it). The mom said her dd loved the cup cake box.

In the fall when she had a party a week (well 3 in one weekend) some of the things we gave were a paint your own horse or it was a few horses & a nail polish kit (I think it was that).

Oh yeah, late Nov or Early Dec she had a party but that was for a 6 yo & we got her a stone to make her own garden stone (a small one, like a 6x6 one), a small version of the baking jewelry kit as I described above & a wooden ornament set of 4 that she could color.

Look at legos or nerf toys for the boy. Look at craft/bead stuff for the girls. We also do games a lot - trouble, connect four, scrabble jr.

Thanks everyone!

We did one of the paint your own jewelry box thing in the fall, it was a big hit, thanks for reminding me! I think I'll run to TRU to see if they are on sale!

I'll look for something for the boy as well!

How about Stomp Rockets for the boy? The are foam rockets that you attach to a tube, stomp on the air chamber and they fly up. My boys loved them at that age. They run around $10.

Head on over to Target. They have alot of Toys on Clearance right now. Picked up quite a few things the other day. My DD5 is going to a party on Saturday and I was able to pick up a twin pack of the 12 Dancing Barbies for under $8.00. So, that is what we are giving. Lots of games on sale too. Our Target didn't have the clearance toys all in one location so we went up and down all the aisles and looked for the clearance signs. I also picked up a few Fly Wheel Thingies that were usually $20 and got them for under $5.00.
(My Mom and I are on the National Night Out Committee for our Church and we give away a bunch of door prizes so we stock up when everything is on clearance for this event).

Littlest Petshop stuff is VERY popular here. Also, Furby is very popular. I got one for $10 at WalMart.

I hate when people give my dd craft kits, paints, or anything with beads. I'm not a crafty person. We have cats, so anything with beads goes into the trash. I can't risk dd dropping them and the cats eating them.

I like Playdoh and Legos sets because they're unisex, consumable, and it doesn't matter if the kid already has it!
