I meant to find a Dis'er who could send me a few, forgot and now its a couple of weeks until Easter. Can anyone send me a few Kindereggs? Dd loves them and I have paypal. Thanks!

Where can you buy Kinder eggs in this country? I've been searching for a few years now with no luck. I know they are still available in Europe. When my daughter and I went to France, we bought Kindereggs. I haven't seen them at the German paviliion at Epcot either and I look every trip. Might just not be catching them when they are in stock since I don't usually go around Easter.

If someone knows where you can order the eggs, I'd love to know!

You can't buy them in the US and it is illegal to ship them in as per US regulations. You can google them though if you want further information.

I find it very amusing that Kinder Surprise are banned in the US.

Funny, a colleague just brought some in to work yesterday and we all became small children, playing with the toys.

Yup, trying to break the law for chocolate. Its a risk I am willing to take....:rotfl2:

I should have quoted the post after yours, that is the one that I was responding to regarding purchasing them in the US. That is why I put the little google tip in to the post. There is a way around everything.

I look every trip in Epcot Germany too! My grandmother went to Germany when I was a kid and brought these back for us (not sure how she got through customs) and I got some when I was in Spain in High School. They are so neat, I always look for them in Epcot.

That can't be right. I can buy them here. They are displayed in the open. I doubt there is anything illegal going on. :confused3

Actually, the FDA did ban them. In the US you cannot have non-edible things encased in candy. You can have candies encased in plastic, but not the other way around. I remember looking this up when an American friend told me that you guys didn't have Kinder Surprise, but I might have the exact details wrong.

ETA - here's an FDA alert about possible illegal importation of Kinder Surprise Eggs.

They didn't ban Kinder Surprise specifically, but the effect of the law that says "you can't have non-food items inside food" is that Kinder Surprise are not legal in the U.S.

Sometimes you can find them in small shops that are importing them below the radar. But it is true that they aren't legal to sell in the U.S. Or an internet retailer willing to ship to the U.S.

Wow! That is so weird. I'll have to tell my 11 yo that she's been buying black market goodies. ;)

This is too funny...from the link provided by Tinker'n'Fun.

What to do: If you see Surprise Eggs on sale at a local or online store, you can notify the CPSC. (The agency contacts vendors and warns them that Surprise Eggs are illegal, though the sheer number of merchants carrying them means that some will inevitably slip through the cracks.) And if you really want to surprise your kids this Easter, you can consider getting them candy and toys separately. Mixing the two, especially when the toy is embedded inside the candy as it is with the Surprise Egg, sends a mixed message about what is and isn't edible, and puts younger children at risk.

I want to see the child who will eat the chocolate, get the plastic egg open and then eat the toy! Do they really think children are this confused. The toy is encased in a plastic container :confused3

Between this and the fact that Harry Potter had to be "translated" for sale in the US, one starts to wonder what the "powers that be" think about American children.

ETA - I am not saying anything about American children. It's the "powers that be" that amuse me.

Did you read the comments on that site? Hilarious!

No, I have been half-hearted in my Dis posts since I have been watching the basketball games. I just "assumed" with Consumer Reports that the information would be accurate. So much for my logic.:rotfl2:. No more multi-tasking for me....

BTW: I am not against the chocolates, just stating the facts at this was a huge concern last Easter also.. As a perimenopausal woman eating Fluff off a tablespoon, I am positive that my posts should be taken with a grain of salt... Have a great afternoon everyone.;)

awalys wondered what happened to them! I used to save up all my allowance to buy them each week (mid 90's) and I loved them. I found them last year for sale up in mackanaw city.

I first discovered these when a German relative brought them here about 9 years ago. Last year DD went to Germany with DGM and I had them bring some back because I knew her little brothers would love them. I did'nt know they were banned till after they already brought them back,I just thought they didn't sell them here .

I would love to get my children some of these for their Easter baskets. I remember the "Wonder Balls" that they used to have and shaking them to make sure I got one with the little sweet tarts inside instead of the stickers or tatoos! :rotfl2: I seen that I could order them from Canada for $24.99 for a case, but with shipping at @$18.00 - them are some expensive eggs. I thought about asking some fellow employees to share them with, but no bites! :confused3 Oh well! I will now look around online and see what I can find! I figured it would take forever to have them shipped anyways. They seem really fun!
