we are all booked up to do back to WDW in May, our dd will be 20 months by then so i assume we will get alot more use of the pool than we did when she was 5 months and we went in Feb! i am planning on visiting at least one water park and we are staying at por so will probably use the pools there as well, but what sort of floatation device will she need????:confused3 I was thinking of getting one of them swimsuits with the floats sown in, are these any good? Or do i just go with arms bands, rubber ring or something else or nothing???
Also am i able to buy these things in disney when we get there or am i best to bring them from home?

You could get your own flotation suit, but Disney waterparks and most of the resorts have kids life jackets which you can use. At the waterparks there are usually signs up marking the spots where you pick them up, but at the resorts you need to ask as they are not always out for you to help yourself to. Anyone feel free to correct me if this has changed

DD uses a flotation jacket to go swimming at home so we use the jackets available at the pool when we are there. They are free to use and at the resorts there is usually a 'bin' of them, the smallest is X-small :goodvibes

Haven't taken DD to a water park yet as she is just as happy with the resort pool and I know she would be hard to keep track of in that environment (she is a dare devil who no fear! :scared1:)

We took DS to TL when he was 11 months and he had a smaller type of life jacket, I'm trying to find a pic of him to show you. Obviously we didn't have one of these for when we were at the villa pool, but he had arm bands and a floating seat thing too, he loved chilling in it with a bottle of milk!

This is the floating seat - these are about £13 from Mothercare and really stable

At that age DD had a flotation suit - a uv suit with floats in it - think it was from gltc or elc. A little older she used a flotation vest which zipped over her swim suit.

They do have the flotation vests at disney hotels and water parks.

thanks so much everyone for the advice and thats fab that they lend the lifejacket things out at the water parks and hotels. :thumbsup2 i think these will probably do her and they will help me on the packing front. I have an all in one cover all areas 50 factor suit thing so she should be well protected and safe with a lifejacket over the top - thats if she can move lol! :lmao:
thanks for the pics t16gem, your ds looks very chilled in his seat and i love the vision of him floating round with his milk bottle in the morn :lmao: so cute!

Hi, Just butting in for a second...:rolleyes1
Does anyone know if I can take one of those floatie seats in the pool at AKL?I'm sure I read somewhere that you weren't allowed inflatables in the Disney swimming pools :confused3
It would be perfect for my son who will be 13 months when we go, thanks :thumbsup2

i cant see why they would be a issue provided the pool wasnt packed, i think i would class it differently to say a lilo which is an inflatable, but hopefully someone will be able to say for definite

That's exactly what I was going to say :) I think items that are for safety would be allowed.

Anyone know where in the uk I could get those floatation vests think there be great for taking the kids swimming

Anywhere that stocks Jet Ski or Water Skiing accessories would stock them, a quick google of water sports shops brings up quite a few online stockists if you haven't got anything like it by where you live. When I was younger we all used to ski and we had wet suits and jackets, I used to love mine, it was pink and white, very girly! :)
