Kind of spoiled...will BCV studio be ok?

We have an upcoming trip slated for 3 nights in a BCV studio and 4 in a 1BR to save some points. It's 4 of us--me, wife, 18 yr daughter, 12 son. Will the studio just feel too cramped or should we just suck it up? I'm tempted to "splurge" on the extra points to get all 7 nights in 1 BR...(if available)

Thoughts? We are recent DVC members and have stayed at SSR and AKV. What do you think of BCV other than the obvious GREAT location?

Thanks!

Will the sleeping arrangements work out ok for your family in a studio? If the children aren't against sharing a bed you should be ok for a few nights.

Actually I just saw the BC 1 bedroom has a queen bed and a sleeper sofa as well. Maybe consider one of the resorts that have a sleeper chair in the one bedroom if sharing a bed isn't an option?

I've stayed in the 1 bdrm BCV before with kids a lot younger and thought the place was way too small. I can't imagine staying in a studio with them all grown up particularly at BCV.

If you have the points I would do an 1 bedroom or possibly a 2 bedroom at BCV. I have a 2 bedroom addiction though:rotfl2: A studio is going to be tight (especially for 7 nights), and you will appreciate the extra space and washer/dryer in a 1 bedroom or larger. I like having the full kitchen too. I very rarely cook a big meal in it, but it is nice to have a nice size fridge/freezer and usually I do cook breakfast to save cash on meals, so a studio is not ever my 1st choice, even if I only have 2 people. Splurge on something bigger, you won't be disappointed. Plus the location, food options from it and other resorts and pool are why it is my FAVORITE resort!

Have you considered a different resort where the points are lower. OKW points are considerably lower and the villas there are Huge. You won't be within walking distance to any of the parks. However it does not share a bus system with any other resort. DTD is just a short boat ride away with all its dinning options and Disney quest. You said you have a 12yr old DS. He might like that. You would still have an arcade at OKW and a marina. There is a full basketball court. Big draw for my boys. It would certainly be big enough and it also has a sleeper chair if your kids don't want to share a bed.

I agree, too cramped. The 1 bedroom has a pull out couch and a fold out chair that makes a twin size bed - seems like it would be much better for your family. I'm sure your son would be fine on the fold out chair. We had a king bed, I don't know if 2 queens are an option. A king was what we wanted.

We had four of us at OKW in a one bedroom for the Marathon. Husband, teen aged son, husband's running buddy and me. It was comfortable. But the two guys in the living room had their stuff piled up in the corner. But they each had their own sleeper bed.

A studio would have been way too small.

I have to agree with most, go with the 1BR. Especially since you're going for 7 days.:goodvibes

Why not bring down an air mattress? That way they can have a little more space to sleep.

thanks for the great counsel everyone! I called today and was lucky enough to convert all 7 nights to the 1 BR. BTW can you confirm that all 1 Brs have a chair sleeper as well as a sofa sleeper? That will be huge for us.

Thanks again!

BCV doen't have a sleeper chair in the 1 bedroom. You still have only 2 places to sleep. There is a king bed in the bedroom and a queen pull out in the living room.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. If you go to OKW, Kidani, BLT, or any standard, savannah, or concierge 1 bedroom in Jambo, then you will have a sleeper sofa.

You'll need to bring an air mattress or a cot for the 12 year old. Otherwise, plenty of room in the 1 b/r.

And a sleeper chair. ;) I think that's what you meant Bobbi.

If I were the OP, I still bring an air mattress for one of the kids to sleep on the floor. That way each of the kids have their own bed since BCV has only a pull out couch in the living room.

With your family dynamics, I would go with either AKV Kidani or BLT 1BR. Why? Two bathrooms in the 1 BR unit plus the sleeper chair. We just stayed at BCV for Thanksgiving in a 2BR and IMHO the 1BR portion is not that big.

Yup, thanks!:)

I travel with teenage DS & DD. They would never share a bed. We have an air mattress and pump in our owners locker. Studios are too tight. But, the 1B fit the air mattress in the living area with the sleeper sofa pulled out. We just put the air mattress in the bedroom during the day.

Congrats on getting the 1B.:goodvibes

GREAT advice, I would have to agree!

I am a big fan of the 2bdrm, but saying that, we have also stayed in the 1bdrm and a studio. We have 2DD's (16 & 14), so they don't love it, but they will share a bed.

My biggest thing is having the washer and dryer...LOVE IT!

We would stay in a studio if it meant more time at WDW!

Thanks for your additional counsel, everyone. We are going to stay with the 1BR and bring an air mattress for the 12 year old. We have already stayed at Kidani and enjoyed it very much. We love the location of BCV and despite its "shortcomings" we think it will be a great place for us!
