I will preface this by saying if it is a stupid question I apologize in advance, but here goes....

If i have the regular DDP and TIW card and use them both at a meal...say I want appetizers and alcohol. Will the 18% tip only be added on to the OOP expenses, or to what the entire meal would have cost?

TIA

I can't remember for sure, but I think it was only added on to the alcohol and other extras.

pretty sure DDP no longer includes tip so yes you should tip according to what the entire bill would be without it. or if allowed make it 2 separate transactions.. one for DDP and one for the OOP stuff.

but unless you purposely intend to tip less than 18% on the DDP meal, why bother? too much hassle.

definitely not trying to tip less than 18%. I always tip more actually...I know how rough it is being a server as I did it in college.

Just wanted to find out if even though I have the ddp and the tiw card they would go ahead and add the tip for the whole thing up front, that is all.

I know that the ddp does not automatically include the tip anymore, but just thought that since I will be using the tiw card for appies and alcoholic drinks, disney might go ahead and add the tip for the whole thing, and just wanted to see if anyone knew.

I can do the math on my own when I get there, just was wondering what others experiences were with this.

sorry if i was not clear.....

Yes, you absolutely can use your TIW card for 20% off of your apps, alcohol and any other extras. The 18% tip will be applied only to the amounts outside of the DDP, however, so you will need to tip additionally for the portions of the meal covered by the DDP. The DDP has not included tip for a few years now.

gotcha must better exposition there.

That, I dunno, we never use DDP as it is a complete waste for us and our dining habits.

how many will be in your party? parties of 6 or more get the 18% added automatically... that might figure in to your calculation...

Sounds like the OP wants to make sure he/she doesn't double tip or walk out without tipping.

My only advice is to check your bill each and every time you use both. There may be some who only add the automatic 18% to the extras and there may be some who add it to the whole thing. I wouldn't assume after one transaction that all will be the same.

@sharonabe - thanks, yes that is what I was getting at, I definitely will check the bill each time.

Thanks
