Kim's new and improved life journal!

Hey all! What a busy weekend. :upsidedow

Friday night was fun. It was a late night, but lots of good laughs. :thumbsup2
Saturday morning DH and I went for a 3.5 mile walk before we picked up the kids from my parents. :thumbsup2 We did some stuff around the house, and then went to a graduation party & then picked up the sitter & DH and I went out to the show (Movin' Out - the Billy Joel tribute show). GREAT show! Really, really great music. Another really late night. :headache:

Today DD and I went to a bday party for one of her school friends and then we went up to my parents for an anniversary dinner (theirs).

Starting tomorrow, my friend Lynn and I are going to work out twice a week during lunch (only Feds can use the gym at work - so I'm in now!). I think the plan is Mon & Wed and I'm gonna walk at least one day a week as long as it's not over 90 degrees. The running will find it's way back to me, I'm sure of it. Like Tracey said, I need to get into my groove with this new schedule and see where I'm adding running in.

MAN, I freakin LOVE the gym!!! :woohoo:

Lynn showed me around because it's been years since I've used some of the equipment. :rolleyes: We started out on the stair climber for 15 minutes (:eek: ). Then we did 1/2 hour of all of the weight machines and some ab work & free weights. It was AWESOME!!! I was using that machine where you push with your feet and it works your thighs (yes, I think that's the technical name for it :laughing: ) and I was doing 120 pounds!!! That was a great feeling!

I didn't care too much for the stair climber - didn't feel like I could get my balance....so I think I'll do my cardio on the treadmill instead when I go there.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be another nice day out (high in the 70's) - so Lynn and I will be walking at lunch. Then I'm planning a run on Wednesday since I'm off, and then another gym day on Thursday. I might do another run on Friday either in the am or on the treadmill at the gym at lunch (I predict the gym will be a ghost town on Thursday & Friday) - or I might take Friday off and then run again on Saturday. We'll see how I'm feeling. ;) Honestly, it just feels good to be back in the swing of things and to have some new exercises/workouts to spice things up. :thumbsup2

My favorite piece of equipment today was the one that you twist your torso to lift the weights to work your obliques. MAN, can you feel that thing working!! :upsidedow

Oh, and food was good today too.

I can't say it enough, guys. THANKS for sticking with me. I feed off of your encouragement and support through the good and bad times. I've been an emotional person a lot lately and that's not usually me. :hug:

Lastly - please pray for my gmom. She's starting to lose her fight in this mess. :guilty:

:hug: Sorry to hear about your grandma :(. I will definitely keep her in my thoughts as she continues her battle. She's really been fighting hard over the last year plus. I'm sorry to hear things haven't improved for her.

GREAT job on the workout! :thumbsup2 Sometimes all it takes is something new to shake up the schedule and get yourself back into the workout routine!! And I saw running on that schedule too....:woohoo: awesome job Kim! I'm proud of you and I love the enthusiasm I hear in your post. Sounds like now that your job has settled in, you're able to concentrate a bit on your workouts. Good for you! Keep us posted on the gym stuff. Gosh...I haven't done the stair climber in a while but I remember disliking it when I did it LOL. The treadmill sounds like a good bet! Weights are fantastic!

There's our Kim!!! Congrats on getting pumped up about the gym! New additions to the workout routine are always a great change. And did I see a couple of runs scheduled in there also?? Way to go! Good luck on getting a nice solid routine going with a mixture of runs, weights and non-impact cardio...once you do that, I bet the food intake changes for the better as well :)

Good job Kim.

Hey guys! Thanks for stoppin' by. No actual run y'day, but I did a LOT of yardwork and heavy lifting. Today I'm going back to the gym at lunch and tomorrow I will run (my gym partner will be off). Then I'll get another run in over the weekend. I will NOT let freakin TOM get to me this time around. :headache:

Hey all. Just a quick post since I didn't get back here last night.

I did go to the gym y'day at lunch. I really wasn't feeling well, but I pushed through and I'm glad I did. I know the guilt of NOT going would have made me feel even worse.

Running is definitely not happening today. I'm barely functioning at a walk level today. (believe me - you don't want the details :sad2: ). Can't wait for August for that surgical consult.

Hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend! We're jam packed with birthday parties. :scared:

Great job hitting the gym yesterday!! It's always tough when not feeling well...you should be proud of yourself!!

Don't worry about the run today...sorry that you have such a tough time each month, but glad to see that you hopefully have some resolution lined up in the near future...hang in there :)

Hey guys. Thanks so much for "understanding'. I really do hate that TOM takes such a toll on me. And this month is worse than ever. We're back from the bday parties and I decided against going out with the girls so I can just relax and chill with my buddy Advil. :laughing:

Not too much going on tomorrow besides church and a dinner at BIL's house. So I hope to get a run in either before or after church. :thumbsup2

Hey all. Just a quick post (copied from the C25K thread I posted on just now :goodvibes )


I did get out for a run today. I went 3.07 miles in 38.50 minutes. Slow pace, but my LORD was it HOT! :guilty: I felt like I was breathing in stuffy, steamy air...nothing regenerating about it. It was an ugly run and a hard run, but it was a run. :thumbsup2

My plan for this week is:

Mon - gym with 20 minute run on TM to start then weights/abs
Tues - On Demand workouts/Bean 30 mins
Wed - same as Mon
Thurs - same as Tues
Fri - not sure...might be a day off or I might walk at lunch if it's not too hot or maybe I'll just hit the TM....we'll see.
Sat or Sun - RUN outside

Can you tell I'm finally feeling better? :laughing:
 
:thumbsup2 Great run Kim!!! It was a scorcher out there today. Makes running a lot tougher! Proud of you for getting out their despite the weather.

Your plan sounds great! Just don't forget a rest day in there ;), don't want to hurt yourself. It's totally ok AND advisable to make sure you give your body a break in the midst of all that training. Super job scheduling the workouts though!! Way to go!!!! :goodvibes
 
It was hot out there! (which i wouldnt know, becuase i was inside all day!!)

I think your plan looks good --just make sure youre not pushing too hard if you dont feel good...if you feel okay--get your butt out there!!

I still think i must come to your gym haha "bring your single friend to work day!?" hey i had to try.

Great job getting a run in with the hot weather! Glad you are feeling better. Hang in there for your consult in August. Life after the procedure is soooo much better!
