Kim's new and improved life journal!

Hey guys. Today was another crazy day, but I made it through pretty well.

Here's the food:

B - 2 scrambled eggs
S - 1/2 cucumber and 2 small tomatoes w/dressing
L - LC Pannini sandwich, 15 baked tostitos with 2 tbsp lite taco dip
D - turkey sandwich on wheat w/lite mayo
S - (at bday party) 1/2 hot dog w/mustard

Water - 80 ounces
1 cup decaf green tea w/lemon

Exercise - I ran for 20 minutes on the treadmill at lunch!

I definitely had WAY too many carbs today, but with running around before DD's back-to-school night, I didn't have too many options. Then we got to the family birthday party and they were grilling hot dogs. I'm mad I didn't resist, but I'm proud I only had 1/2.

Tomorrow's another day. I'm going to give my legs a rest tomorrow, after doing lunges, squats and other good stuff last night, and running today. I might do some arm and ab work since I'm leaving work early (kids have 1/2 day of school). Then I'll be running around the house like a mad woman cleaning up for the birthday party at my house tomorrow night. We're having family over for my nephew's 8th birthday and DS's 5th birthday!!

Have a good one, guys. Talk to you tomorrow!

Hi Kim!

Good job with the eating....are you watching carbs? I know that carbs are good fuel for running so getting some in your diet must be ok...

Have fun with the party tonight! I know how hectic those can be, but they are moments to really treasure! And good job running on the treadmill!!

Have a great day!

Thanks, Scott. Yes, the program I'm is low carb & low sugar & high protein. And I do struggle with knowing that I need carbs the night before a run. I guess deep down I know that as long as I keep up with the running, extra carbs (meaning, over and above the "program") are ok and necessary. But if I start to slack off (which I don't plan on ;) ) then I have to make sure that's the first area I cut back.

I'll post later tonight with how the day went today!

HAPPY B-DAY TO YOUR SON!!!!!
:teeth: :thumbsup2 :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :woohoo: :bounce:

hope you're having a blast tonight!!!!

Hi Kimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

why are you not online?!im very sad ;)

Hope you are getting your butt in g ear..and your son SHOULD have mail tomorrow--let me know ;)

Good Morning all! First let me say...

HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY, JACOB!!! party:

Yesterday's food was good, until I had 2 pieces of pizza for dinner, and then sampled some of the cake at the party! But water was good, and got in my decaf unsweetened green tea.

Today, I'm thinking, won't be as good.

You guys remember my grandmother that broke her foot about 6 months ago? She's been living in a nursing home, and yesterday fell and broke her hip. The foot she broke was her left, and so she has been favoring her right side since then...now she's broken her right hip. So it's really bad. She's in the hospital and will hopefully have surgery today or tomorrow to reset things. I'm just really upset for a few reasons...How much more can this 80-something woman take? I don't know if I mentioned this before, but she broke her neck a couple months before my wedding almost 10 years ago. She wore the halo and everything, went through rehab...went home. Then she broke her foot, rehab, nursing home. Now this? I've had a couple other relatives on mine and DH's side who have broken hips and not recovered "mentally" from it. I'm so worried about her. I am going there after work to see her. Hopefully I can be encouraging by that point because I want to be that for her.

Thanks, guys, for listening.

:bday: to Jacob! I hope he has a wonderful birthday! :cool1:

:grouphug: Kim... I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. We will be keeping her in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Take care, Kim. :grouphug:

Hi Kim!

Happy Birthday Jacob!! 5 is such a great age!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother....and i bet you're right about the mental part of it being the toughest. It's unreal that she's had so many broken bones...I will keep you guys in my thoughts and hope that everything turns out ok. Good idea to go see her after work and give her your support :)

Hope you have a good day!

:grouphug: Oh Kim...sorry to hear about your grandma :(. I know how traumatic a broken hip can be at that age. But she's getting good care and she seems to have quite the fighting spirit! I'll keep her in my thoughts for sure! Please update us on how she's doing!!!

And a BIG Happy Birthday to Jacob :cheer2: .

Sounds like you guys had fun last night :teeth: .

:bday: to Jacob! :cake:

Kim -- I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. I really hope the surgery is soon and smooth and a full success. I am sure it must be difficult for someone as independent as she is to be physically disabled this way. But it sounds like she is a really strong lady and I am so glad she has your support. I know it will be hard for you to be upbeat and :sunny: and :teeth: when you go to see her, but here is a  for you.

Thank you so much, you guys!

Grandmom was scheduled for her surgery at 2pm today, so I'll let you know how she's doing later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks again, you made me cry...you're all SO wonderful!

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Hang in there....g-ma is in good hands! Extra p & pd to you and her.
Call if you need to...I'm here!!
I know what kind of stress a sick or hurting relative can bring....just imagine how many people are pulling for her right now!!!

Happy B-day Jacob!!!! Hope he had a great day!!

Again....anytime...day or night....that's what friends are for....remember??!!

Morning, all.

Last night was rough. Grandmom came through her surgery and she was in a LOT of pain when we saw her (my mom & I). We stayed with her about 45 minutes and then left so she could hopefully get some rest. She was pretty delirious and didn't know where she was (kept telling us to get some sandwiches and sodas out of her fridge, thinking she was in her apartment) but I guess that's from the drugs she was on at the time. It was just an emotional and tiring day/night yesterday.

And my worst moment of the day was when I came home to talk to DS about his birthday at school, and to find out how it all went...and he was asleep on the couch. :guilty: I felt HORRIBLE!! Granted I was visiting my injured grandmother, and not just out on the town...but still. My heart just broke.

I told him this morning we're taking him out to eat tonight for his birthday, and requested McDonalds. Hopefully tonight I can talk him in to a little bit better of a place!

Have a good day, all. I'll be back to journaling my food shortly. Believe me...you don't wanna know. :sad2:

Oh, and Marie - THANKS!

Kim -

So sorry that yesterday was rough for you...but it was awesome that you were there to support your grandmother. I know it was tough when you got home and DS was asleep, but he will certainly appreciate going out tonight to eat :) You should do whatever he wants...even if it's Mickey D's...treat yourself, just don't overindulge (no quarter pounder supersized meals)..then get out there and run it off tomorrow! Running will help clear your mind a little too ;)

I hope today is better for you and best wishes to your grandmother and your family.

Hey lady--
Happy late birthday to Jake,,even if he got the card from me!
I know things have been crazy for you the last week and i really hope things settle down for you soon--let me know if you need anything, im only a hour away :) Seriously, call if you need me to do anything, or just to vent.

Hope you guys enjoyed your bday dinner--even if it was McDonalds..
By the way, check your PMs....and i talked to your daughter tonight--i dunno if you were there or not, but seems i am missed at your house..

Hi guys! Another crazy weekend coming to a close. Jacob's karate birthday party was a huge success, and we are overwhelmed by toys! haha

He received some CARS bedding, and now wants a room makeover. So I guess that's going to be my fall project. And I can't just make it easy on myself - I have to come up with something cool to paint on his walls (like DD got the butterflies ;)). I'm thinking a roadway that curves around a couple walls, and paint blue above it, and tan below it. I already went on ebay and bought some wall decals and a sign for his door. :rotfl: Maybe I can find some more cool stuff at WDW!

My week of exercise didn't pan out exactly as I wanted, but I did move more than the previous week, so that's an improvement. I ran on Saturday for 35 minutes on what I believe was 3.5 mile course. The worst part of that run.....no music! My MP3 player is officially broken. It was SO hard without the music to distract me and to get me pumped up. But I did it and I'm glad I did. I just heard you guys saying how, when I don't want to do it, but then I do it anyway...it's much more rewarding. And it WAS! So thank you guys!!

Here's to a great week for all of us! :thumbsup2

Kim - great job with the running even though you didn't have any music!! And glad you got to see how rewarding it is when you complete a run that you weren't up to doing in the first place!!

Sounds like the bday was a success and that room sounds really neat! There is so much you could do with it :)

Have a great day!

hey lady-im so glad jakes party was a sucess--cant wait to see what you come up with for his room!!
Good job running, even without the music!
and thats all im writing now since im talking to you--talk to you later!

Hey all! I'm glad to be back into the workweek after the crazy weekend I had.

Here's my food:

B - 3/4 cup cereal w/skim milk
L - LC chicken & rice, salad
S - 10 wheat crackers w/lite cream cheese
D - chicken & broccoli stew

water - 60 ounces (not too good)
green tea - 16 ounces

I came home at lunch today to put the chicken stew in the crockpot and did some arm weights and some ab work for about 20 minutes. I felt SO good going back to work since I actually did something instead of watching tv like I had planned.

Thanks to Marie, I have joined the October exercise challenge. Jen, Marie and I are going to do it together!! Let's go, ladies! :yay:

:grouphug: Way to go Kim!!! Good job on the food and exercise today. I know the end of last week was really emotional and tough. I hope your grandma is doing ok? But you did great getting through it all and right back on track today :goodvibes . So proud of you :).
