Kimpup and MLinDisney went back to enjoy the FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL!~COMPLETED 10/28

This morning, we had breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery on our way to Hollywood Studios. We walked there very early.

I wanted to try the breakfast bowl.

Egg Bowl Scrambled Eggs, Breakfast Potatoes with Fruit and choice of Turkey Sausage or Bacon. I chose the bacon. This was just ok. I ate some of the egg and potato and all of the bacon. The bread bowl was just ok. I rated this 4/10. DD rated it 1/10!

DD ordered:

Chocolate Croissant. I tasted this and I don’t remember if I liked it. DD rated it 8/10.
We also ordered coffee and sat at tables right outside the Bakery. Here is our view:

The breakfast was $18.49, which we put on the Disney Rewards Card.

We walked along the boardwalk and cut through the clown pool area to the walkway to Hollywood Studios. It was a pleasant walk early in the morning.

NEXT REVIEW: SNACK STARRING ROLLS CAFÉ

Having breakfast at the Boardwalk bakery brings back memories of our stay there last month. Sitting outside with a cup of coffee and a pastry with the beautiful view is the way to start a wonderful WDW day.

The walk to Hollywood Studios was about 15 minutes from Boardwalk Bakery. We arrived early and waited for opening. We were let in around 15-20 minutes before 9:00 am! We were able to ride Toy Story twice, Rock N roller Coaster and ToT. I really wanted to go to the Animation area because I never went to the Animation class. DD and I both drew Pluto.

I couldn’t believe it turned out so well!
We didn’t eat much of the breakfast so we stopped for a snack at Starring Rolls Café.

Grapefruit Cake—Brown Derby Original! Light Layers of Yellow Cake with fresh Grapefruit-Cream Cheese Icing. I didn’t see this in Starring Rolls, but heard that they will go into the Brown Derby and get it for you, and they did!! Here is another angle:

I enjoyed this cake. It was very juicy with grapefruit juice infused into the cake. I give this a 9/10! DD gave it 2/10.
We did get another snack. I thought this was also at Starring Rolls but DD ordered this from a store that looked like a theatre called Beverly Sunset.

Mickey Brownie. We sat down outside near that store. I didn’t taste this. DD rated it 3/10 and said it didn’t taste very fresh.
The grapefruit cake was $7.46, paid for with the Disney Rewards card. The Brownie was $3.99. We did some shopping and went back for a second ride on Rock N Roller Coaster with our FP+

That is us in the backseat. Usually I have my eyes shut tight and I’m screaming, but DD was trying to teach me how to pose when we get close to the camera. Here is our last photo on Rock N Roller Coaster:

NEXT REVIEW: LUNCH: BOARDWALK BAKERY AND PIZZA WINDOW

I didn't know you could get the Grapefruit Cake at Starring Rolls! I'm going to have to add that to my list for January!!

Yachtsman looks so good! Is that 2 credits on the DDP?

I didn't know you could get the Grapefruit Cake at Starring Rolls! I'm going to have to add that to my list for January!!

Yachtsman looks so good! Is that 2 credits on the DDP?

I read about the Grapefruit cake on Disboards! Yes two credits on DDP.

Came to post the same thing Terrie just said! Who knew?:goodvibes

I looked for the grapefruit cake in the display window. When I didn't see it there, I asked for it and they went in the back to get it with no hesitation. They must get quite a few requests for this.

Hollywood Studios was pretty empty and we did quite a bit. After Rockin Roller Coaster We went to TSM for the third time! After American Idol, we left. I wanted to take the Friendship Boat back, but it was a nice day and it was standing there for a long time, so we walked. We were almost to the Clown Pool at Boardwalk, when it passed us and headed for the Swan. We stopped at Boardwalk Bakery again for Lunch.
I ordered:

Maine Lobster with Buttered Chive Mayo, on a Split Top Roll served with Cucumber Salad or Chips. I opted for the cucumber salad.

The lobster roll was delicious! I enjoyed the entire sandwich. The cucumber salad was ok. I ate half of it. I rated the Lobster Roll 9/10!
DD didn’t want anything at the Boardwalk Bakery, so we walked a little and she ordered from the Pizza Window.

It was almost inside of Kouzzina. We sat at that little table to the left.

She ordered:

A slice of cheese pizza and a diet coke. I ordered that bottle of water to the right to have with my lobster roll. DD rated this 6/10. Later I was thinking we could have walked to Via Napoli and got a pizza from the window, but I wanted to try that lobster roll.

We shared this for dessert from the Boardwalk Bakery:

Salted Caramel Ganache – Here’s a close up view.

You can see the salt on the top. Everything from Boardwalk bakery including the Lobster Roll came in those white boxes (in the back of the caramel ganache.) I loved this. I didn’t taste any after taste as has been reported by some on Disboards. I rate this 8/10. DD rated it 6/10 The Lobster roll and Caramel Ganache was $21.28 and the Pizza, diet coke and water was $9.83. For a total of $31.11 for lunch, which we paid for with the Disney rewards card. We headed back to the Beach Club to enjoy the hot tub.

NEXT REVIEW: SNACK FOOD AND WINE BOOTHS

After a short trip to the hot tub at the Beach Club, we dressed and walked back to Hollywood Studios for the American Idol finale. We enjoy American Idol but never saw the finale. I’m glad we did. After the finale, we left and walked again to the Beach Club for a pit stop, then headed for Epcot. We had the Disney Food Blog Snack Attack Illuminations Dessert Party. That was going to be my dinner. :rotfl:
While walking through the World Showcase, DD stopped at the Japan booth and ordered this:

I didn’t taste this. She loves sushi. She said that the sushi at Japan was ok but nothing like New York sushi! I gave it a 6/10 it was spicy mayo with tuna and salmon.
This was $4.95, paid for with the Disney Rewards Card. We sat down a while to have this and heard Airsupply singing the end of one of their concerts. Then we walked over to UK. We had to meet up for the Snack Attack Illuminations Dessert Party between the Yorkshire County Fish Shop and the outdoor seating area/patio for that restaurant.
NEXT REVIEW: DISNEY FOOD BLOG SNACK ATTACK ILLUMINATIONS DESSERT PARTY!!!!!!

After DD’s Sushi at the Japan booth, and a little music in the distance from Air Supply, we walked over to UK to meet between the Yorkshire County Fish Shop and the outdoor seating area/patio for that restaurant.
They took our names and gave us a wrist band and we got on the line. We were a little early, but so many people got there before us. When we entered, we got a great little table. We sat with a woman who was on a solo trip. She was very interesting and had so much information about Disneyworld. Before Illuminations started, we got up to fill our plates.
Descriptions of the food on each table:

In the back were cupcakes from Starring rolls. They were the red velvet cupcake and the butterfinger cupcake. In the front were the Cheesecake brownies from Boardwalk Bakery. All of these were smaller versions than the ones they sell. I thought the cupcakes were much better than the larger versions.

The pictures were kind of dark. In this photo there are some more of the cupcakes, at the top right are the carrot cake cookies from Hollywood Studios. In the front is School Bread from Kringla Bakery Norway Pavilion, Epcot. I enjoy the filling from the school bread, and was able to get a few of these and eat the filling and only a part of the cake. I liked the carrot cake cookie too. This was a smaller version than the ones sold at Hollywood Studios.

More School bread and Zebra Domes from Boma/Mara at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Zebra Domes are ok. These seemed larger than the regular Zebra Domes. I could be wrong.

This is a Disney Popcorn machine. We had never tasted Disney Popcorn. It was ok. Not different than other popcorn, but the salt tasted great after all the sweets. They also had lemonade, pink lemonade, water and coffee. They had a cart with Mickey ice cream bars. DD had a Mickey bar. I didn’t get a photo of that.
Now the best part, the view. This was next to the Yorkshire Fish Shop, down a flight of steps, right near the water. I saw things I never saw before in Illuminations. It was the best view and worth every penny! I highly recommend this party!! DD also loved this event! She said it was worth every penny. She said food was great and view was unbelievable! Funny thing was her favorite was the mickey bar!!!
This had to be booked online through the Disney Food Blog. It was $60 each and we had to pay for it with a credit card. I got online the moment the party opened to be sure I had a spot.

NEXT REVIEW: BREAKFAST BEACH CLUB MARKETPLACE

Great reviews! Do they offer the Illuminations dessert party all year round or just during F&W?

Great reviews! Do they offer the Illuminations dessert party all year round or just during F&W?

Thank you! I think only 3 times a year. I see it was also held in April and June. If you google DFB Snack Attack, you will see photos and information.

This morning was our Epcot future world morning. We had originally planned to grab coffee, do some rides and head for Sunshine Seasons for breakfast. Because we didn’t get to eat breakfast at the Beach Club Marketplace the other day, we decided to try it. We ordered and shared:

The Kids Meal French toast bread pudding, bacon grapes and apple juice. I really liked the bread pudding. I rated it 8/10. DD liked the bread pudding and also rated it 8/10.
We also ordered:

Coffee. We sat at a little table right outside the marketplace. I ate the bacon and a few grapes and then we walked to Epcot International Gateway. This was $10.20 paid for by the Disney rewards card.

NEXT REVIEW: LUNCH FOOD AND WINE BOOTHS

After we went on Soarin’ three times and visited quite a bit of Futureworld, we headed over to the World Showcase. I heard that they were giving out wristbands for special seating at the Eat to the Beat Concerts at the Chase Lounge. We stopped there first. We had seen the Starship Concert a few days ago, but missed the Gogos, even though we heard them while walking in Epcot a few nights before. We really wanted good seats to Air Supply. When we got to the Chase Lounge and showed our Chase Visa, they said they weren’t giving out wristbands that day. I was disappointed. We would just have to show up early.
Our first stop for lunch at the Food and Wine Festival was the Hops and Barley booth near American Adventure. We ordered:

Griddled Lobster Tail with Garlic Herb butter, Lobster Roll with Lemon Herb Mayonnaise and Craisin Bread Pudding with Grand Marnier Anglaise.
Close up of Lobster Roll:

Close up of Lobster tail:

Close up of bread pudding:

All I have to say is mmmmmmmmmmmmm!! I really enjoyed the Lobster roll and the Lobster tail was good too. The best part was that DD doesn’t like lobster, so I got to devour it all! I rate the tail 8/10 and the Lobter roll 9/10. I shared the bread pudding with DD and really enjoyed! I rated that 9/10. DD rated it 8/10.
This was $18.25 Paid for by the Disney rewards card.
This photo was taken across from the Hops and Barley booth.

It’s the ropes for the line for Eat to the beat concerts. It was 12:00 noon and one man was on it for the 4:45 show. I was starting to think we wouldn’t get a seat for this concert.
We walked a little further and saw this booth:

I wanted to try the Almond crusted blue cheese soufflé with fig jam.

This was very delicious. The fig tasted very good with the blue cheese flavor. I rate this 8/10. DD wouldn’t try this. This was $3.25 paid for with the Disney rewards card.
Next we stopped at the Africa booth. We tried:

Spinach and Paneer Cheese Pocket. I do not remember tasting this. DD said it was just ok and rated it 5/10.
Also from Africa:

Berbere style Beef with Onions, Jalapenos, Tomato, Okra and Pap. This was tasty. I liked the beef. I rate this 7/10 DD rated it 6/10. She likes spicy and this was a little spicy.
The two tasters from Africa were $7.75. We paid for these on the Disney rewards card.
Onto china:

Mongolian Beef in a Steamed Bun. This was also good. I rated this 7/10. DD rated also rated it 7/10. She said it was different but good.
This was $5.00 on the Disney Rewards card. We ran out of money on the rewards card at this time so we started using our birthday/Christmas presents (gift cards.)
We went to the Living Seas to see the aquarium area and the manatees. Then went on Spaceship Earth and a few other things before we headed back to our room at the Beach Club.
NEXT REVIEW: SNACK AT THE BEACH CLUB

When we got back to the Beach Club. DD was still hungry. I ate most of the Food and Wine Tastings. :rotfl: She went down to the Marketplace and bought this:

Cheese flatbread. I tasted a corner. It was not bad. DD rated it 8/10.
She also bought this:

I think this is a Reese’s cupcake. There were some Reese’s pieces on it and also peanut butter cups. We were both full and put it in the fridge. Later on, I had a little piece and thought it was very good. DD said it tasted good and was fresh. She rated it 7/10. DD and I were just talking about the Oreo Bonbons from Beach Club Marketplace. I wanted to try these and this would have been a good time to get some. I didn’t go down there with her when she bought this, and she didn’t see the Bonbons down there. I wonder if they still have them in the Marketplace. Well next trip! :)
The cheese flatbread and cupcake was $13.19, paid for by one of our gift cards.
DD had to do some work for her job, but I’m retired so I went down to the pool! :yay:

NEXT REVIEW: DINNER AT FOOD AND WINE

After I had a swim and relaxed in the sun awhile, I went up to get dressed. DD was still working, so I read some email and organized things. It was our last night at the Beach Club. I called the desk and asked if we could have a little later check out. They said OK!! We could check out at 1:00 the next day!!
We got ready and headed for Epcot. First stop Belgium. We saw those waffles!

Potato and Leek Waffle with Braised Beef. I thought this was delicious. I rated this 8/10. DD only tried the beef and said it tasted like stew beef. She rated it 7/10. Then we couldn’t resist:

Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream. This was ok. I rated it 6/10. DD also rated it 6/10. These waffles were $7.25. Paid for by a gift card.
We were close to France and went to the France Wine Kiosk. We ordered:

Grand Marnier slushies!! These were outstanding! The cups were extra-large and they put extra Grand Marnier in them! :thumbsup2 I rate this drink 9/10. No brain freeze either. DD said definitely 9/10. These two were $19.90, paid for by a gift card.
We walked over to where Air Supply was playing.

The people who waited on line were seated. But we got a really great seat. We finished our slushies. DD went over to the Fife and Drum and Got a Jalapeno Pretzel and Frozen Lemonade. We shared that while we waited for the concert to start. That was $9. Paid for on a gift card, but I forgot to take a photo. We love the Jalapeno Pretzel from past trips!! This is the first time we had the Frozen Lemonade. It was refreshing.
Air Supply were great. They really played to the audience! They came out right up to us and walked all around while singing!

We didn’t even need a front row seat!

That is DD on the left taking a video.

DD on the right still with the video! The crowd loved this!
After the concert, we started to walk through the World Showcase and saw this:

It was very crowded around this booth.
My beverage:

Frozen Szarlotka (Apple Pie) featuring Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka. This tasted like very cold apple juice. There was not much vodka in it. I rated this drink 4/10. DD rated it 3/10. She said it tasted like frozen apple juice.
This was $8.25, paid for on one of the gift cards.
I wanted to try the ice cream in the new ice cream place in france, L’Artisan Des Glaces. I ordered:

Ice Cream Martini!! I chose a scoop of coco-white chocolate (coconut) and one scoop of caramel fleur de sel (salted caramel.) They poured Whipped Cream flavored Epic Vodka on top. It filled the glass around the ice cream and went into the stem! I finished this entire martini!! I rate this 10/10 for a drink and dessert!
DD ordered:

One scoop of coco-white chocolate in a waffle cone. She rated this 7/10.
Both of these treats were $16.50. Martini $11.50 and Cone $3.99. We paid for this on a gift card. I think I gave DD this gift card for her birthday :)
We started walking toward Future world. When we got close to the walkway to Future world. We saw the Terra booth. There were a few things that we wanted to get at Terra, but we were full and just got this:

Chocolate cake with coconut mousse and passion fruit sauce. This was ok. The coconut mousse was good. I didn’t like the passion fruit sauce. I rated this 5/10. DD rated it 7/10. She thought it was very different.
This was $3.00 paid for with a gift card.
After this, we walked through Future world and took a Monorail to the TTC, then we walked the path to the Poly. We went to the Poly beach to see Hallowishes. First we saw the Water Pageant, which was great, but the photos weren’t. Here’s a good one:

I didn’t get a photos of Hallowishes. The music was piped in to the Poly. We saw the Castle change colors. The fireworks were very different. At one point they were lined up horizontally across the sky. It was a very enjoyable evening. We were going to take the monorail to the MK, then the bus back to the Beach Club, but at the suggestion of one of the Disboarders, we took a cab, which was very easy to do.
We got back and rested up for our last day :sad1:

Thank you! I am definitely getting one of those ice cream martinis next trip!

Today, our last day  we had a 7:30 ADR at Kouzzina by Cat Cora. I was looking forward to this breakfast. This was our first time eating here. We walked around the lake.

We waited a few minutes and they brought us to a table by the kitchen.

Our waitress brought us coffee. I ordered:

Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast Two Poached Eggs, Kalamata Olive Toast, Artichoke Spread, and Sweet Potato Hash with choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage Instead of poached eggs, I ordered scrambled and chose the bacon. DD didn’t taste this I enjoyed this meal. It was very different. I loved the olive bread and the cheesy artichoke spread. I rated this 9/10. DD ordered:

Classic Golden Waffle with Whipped Mascarpone Cheese, Honey, and Chopped Pecans and choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage. She chose the chicken sausage. I didn’t taste this but DD rated hers 9/10! This meal was $30.42, paid for with one of the gift cards. Great meal. We would definitely come back!

We went to the bus stop at the Boardwalk Inn to head for the Magic Kingdom. Our second Magic Kingdom day was also opening day for Jungle Cruise after the refurb. Jungle Cruise didn’t open up until late that afternoon and we were gone by then. So this morning we went on. We then walked to Gaston’s.

We usually buy a few snacks to bring to my Mom. We were driving there that night and figured we could put these in our Beach club refrigerator until check out.

Three maple cinnamon rolls. We had these for breakfast for a few days at my Mom’s. We were hoping that these would be as good as the Main Street Bakery cinnamon rolls, but they weren’t. I thought that they were dry and didn’t like the icing as much. I rated these 4/10.
These were $12.75, paid for with a gift card.

We headed back to the Beach Club to do last minute things before we had to check out.
I’m wondering if they will be selling these when they do the refurb of the Beach Club in January:

I heard there is a site that sells used Disney furniture. :) Wish I knew the site that will sell these!

NEXT REVIEW: LUNCH - FOOD AND WINE BOOTHS

We went down to the lobby of the Beach Club at around 1:00 to check our bags. Before we left the room, we put some candy that I bought for my Mom and the cinnamon rolls in a little carryon bag. We checked our bags with bell services and they put the little carryon in a refrigerator. We checked our laptops and headed for Epcot for lunch.
First stop over the bridge, France. Where we had to have these again:

Grand Marnier slush. This time different glasses. This wasn’t as strong as last time. I couldn’t even taste the liquor at all. Next time I get this, I will watch as they pour. ;) These were $19.90 for the two, paid for on a gift card.
Next stop,

Baklava. We had this at the Morocco quick serve last trip. I don’t know if it was the same. DD tasted it. She rated it 7/10 and said it was the same as last year. This was $2.95, paid for with a gift card.
We then stopped at:

Where we ordered:

Beef Empanada. I forgot the taste of this. DD rated it 8/10. She said it was better than Bongo's! We paid $4.25 for this on a gift card.
We headed over to the Festival Building for our 3:00 Culinary Demonstration.
