Kim Possible started soft openings in EPCOT

Does anyone know what ages this is geared towards? Will my DDs (4&6) be able to do this? We are going the second week in February and they are big Kim Possible fans so we are really excited to try it out. Also do you know how long the whole process will take?

I think the age is about appropiate for your DD's. I saw alot of kids thier age playing it with the help of thier parents and they were enjoying every minute of it. They will love going on a hunt for the items. DH and I are in our early 30's with no kids yet and we enjoyed it. ;)

I don't know anything about Kim Possible except that I am not interested in it - we don't have children and I know I won't be interested in doing the communicator thing. Will this replace anything in Epcot? I know it involves a handheld device, but does it have it's own area as part of the show? I know it's great for kids but hope it doesn't wind up replacing something I love!

Yes, they have actually ripped out Soarin' and are now running KP 24/7. Just kidding! ;) No, this will not 'replace' or get in the way of any current Epcot attractions. And, it might be worthwhile trying it if you have some time in Epcot - think of it as a treasure hunt - you never know, you might just have fun!

Fargoman2, does your dtr know the official opening date? Also, if it is open when we will be there (last week of Feb), I know both my children and all 5 nieces and nephews will want to do this. So if they each put in their ticket, do they each get a different assignment, at a different time, in a different country? How will that work?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Hello Serenity:
I see someone else has already answered this question, but let me just add a couple of thoughts. I just talked to my daughter last night and she said the KimPossible Adventure is testing well and being extremely well received. She thinks it will be a big hit! It is done in an extremely clever manner that people of many different ages could potentially enjoy.

My hunch is that your kids and nieces/nephews are going to have a blast with this. Be sure to post your critique when you return. And...if you happen to run into a CP employee named Brooke from Concordia College, say hello to her for me. In fact, if you or anyone else reading this thread just so happens to be inclined and you care to or can remember, take a picture with her and post on these boards somewhere--I'd be so thrilled to see something like that. I know it's a long shot, but thought I'd throw it out there.

In any event, I look forward to reading everyone's critique of Kim Possible after they experience it.

We actually were able to do this back in September 2006! CM's were picking just a few people to test it out and see if it was something that they wanted to continue.

My DS was one that was picked and he was 6 at the time. It was the highlight of his trip and still talks about it to this day. As a reward for being one of the first to try it out, he got a special edition KP pin.

He is going to be so excited to hear that it is back! We are planning a trip for 2010.

What keeps the people from taking them. Not that I would!!!! But I am sure there are people that would keep it for a souvie.

There are probably GPS locators in them and the Mickey Police will crash into your hotel room at 3 a.m. to retrieve it! ::cop:

Or they self destruct after 24 hours....

Sounds like fun. Are the locations easy to find in the park or are they highlighted in the guidemap?

We did KP today 3 times. We hit France (not so fun), Norway (pretty cool, but not all effects were working), and Germany (super fun effects!!). We're going back next week to hit a couple more, I think there are 7 countries total.

This is something I wasn't at all interested in when I first heard about it, but we stumbled upon it this past Monday and decided to give it a try. We loved it! My boyfriend and I are 24/25 and know nothing about Kim Possible, but had a blast. We were in Mexico. It's really cool how they added things for this attraction, but you would never notice they were added. The phone controlled a few different things around the pavilion. I won't give away any surprises, but my tech loving boyfriend was impressed by the effects. I would highly recommend everyone give it a try. It didn't take long at all and we had a great time.

I was wondering the same thing until we saw a blue type tag on it so we are guessing it is tracked with your ticket and/or won't work once you leave the park. Also I think it is specially activated for the area you are assigned to so you can't do much with it outside of WS. So technically it is a useless cell phone after use. LOL.

a friend and I (both adults) did this during the beta test in September 2006 and had a blast. I do have the pin.

The beta test was in France and Britain. I understand there are now other countries involved.

I hope you don't mind me nosing in here, but we did this in December & I just posted photos on my TR. If you click the link in my siggie it is the last page, the last post. We did UK & then my fam did France too.

It was really fun and didn't ruin Epcot at all. Not one tiny bit of ruin. It actually, for us, enhanced it as they send you all over the country and you really look at stuff and see all the subtlty that is built into the countries.

We are going to be there from Jan 17-25. In previous posts it's been said that the official opening is the 29th, but there are also posters who have said they have done it this week. are they still testing it? If so, what are the chances we will get the opportunity to try it next week? My kids are psyched for it, but I didn't realize that we may be ahead of ourselves.
Thanks!

We are hoping to be able to do this. We will be at Epcot on the 29th. The kids are very excited to try it.

It's still "testing," but they were doing it yesterday. (We didn't do it, so I don't have any more information for you.)

so after you sign in you are given "one country" if you want to do another do you have to go all the way back to the front to register again -

My DS who will be 6 when we go loves this show, so I guess we will have to try it (my kids really hated the world showcase last time). Are you randomly assigned a location? Do you have to go back to one of the start locations to get a different location and do another area? About how long does each mission take? Also are Kim and Ron back out greeting (I think they used to years ago?). My DS would love that. Oddly enough his redheaded, cheerleading 3 year old sister does not like the show, but would probably be really excited to meet Kim.
