Okay, for a long time I've been agonizing over whether I should tell my bean savy Buds about the dismal performance of my pole beans. My first attempt at growing them, and although any Jack would be impressed by the height of the plants, not a bean could be seen. :(

This morning started out the same as the last couple of weeks, with me gazing at my beanstalks, searching through the impressive foliage for a bean, any bean.....and guess what!!!!! :bounce: FINALLY, this morning, just as I was about to turn away in disappointment once again, I spotted it!!! A BEAN!!! Yep, just the one, but what a bean it is! I'm thrilled!! :bounce:

I don't know whether to steam it, saute it, or have it stuffed and mounted!! For now, I'm carrying it around in my pocket.....my lucky Bean. :teeth: :p :)

It's like that forest and the trees saying....Can't see the beans for the bush! :)

I have a visual image of you playing Sherlock looking for the elusive bean. lol. Enjoy that bean.

In my area pole beans are the last to produce fruit. I plant many varieties of bush beans. By the time they have stopped producing beans the pole beans are ready to be harvested. Once the start you can't keep up with them.

If it is any consolation to you Kim... mine have been very late to produce this year too. Not sure if it is the variety or the year.

Mine are blooming like crazy - so maybe I will get some beans here soon.

Well, I'm not carrying it around in my pocket anymore. It's here on my desk, looking like one very limp legume! :p

Upon further, and more extensive investigation, I have discovered more beans beefing up!! :)

I wish you both baskets and bushels of beans, Buds! :) :)

I'm picturing you walking around w/that bean in your pocket. LOL

I think you should laminate & scrapbook that lucky bean in your garden diary since it may have helped coax it's fellow beans out onto your poles. :p LOL

May all of you with bean poles be abundant w/beans. :)

I'm having a visual of a limp legume.:o

Congrats on your harvest Kim.:bounce:

Now you can say...bean there, done that!

LOL, Kim! That's the story of my bean growing life!

DS plants string beans every year. We get maybe 10 beans off the 3 plants we nurture so lovingly.

He ate them at one sitting. Between fertilizer, compost, nutrients and water, I figure each bean costs us roughly $1.

Howzthat for a bargain???

Oh, and limp legumes also abound......LOL LOL LOL

LOL...you guys!! :p

I should of taken my lucky limp legume and had it dipped in gold. I could of worn it on a necklace, like those gold pepper pendants you used to see people wearing. :teeth:

The bean front has shown much improvement. I guess I needed to be patient (not one of my best traits..lol). As Mamu said, they're late producers, and now coming on strong, and tasting yummy! :)
