Hi folks,
This may be the wrong place to put this, but it is my first post here so don't judge me too harshly.

I am 34 and taking my 16 year old brother on a Disney cruise. I booked 2 days just to hang out (staying at all star movie.) We aren't planning to go into any parks on this visit (have many times before) so I was wondering what y'all would suggest as far as things to do at Disney Springs and the general area. (Preferably on the less expensive side lol but that's not likely :P ) Last time I was at downtown it was mostly construction fences.

Thanks everyone!

:welcome: to the DISboards, Greg!

There is bowling at Splitsville. CLICK.

There is so much to see at Disney Springs. Just walking around can take up a lot of time. Plan to eat there, get snacks, etc.

We've spent a full day at Disney Springs.

And we've spent a full day at our resort. Even if it is too cold to swim, there is plenty to see. If there isn't, you can visit another resort for the day.

Mini golf was fun at the Swan and Dolphin hotel. At Disney Springs it is just fun to walk around, there a ton of stores now and places to stop and snack. Have fun!

Characters in Flight tethered hot air balloon is $18.

If you're into running/jogging, the run2fit store does gait analysis. It's an interesting experience. My CM friend had her gait analyzed after we ran the Princess 10K and she finally found shoes that fit her perfectly. Such a fun experience that only set me back $140! ;)

You can also ride the boat to POR or POFQ. Check out the resorts and have beignets at POFQ.

If your looking for cheap entertainment you can always hop a bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and spend a little time checking out the savanna.

Hop a bus to MK, get off the bus and ride the ferry over to the TTC. Then take the monorail to Epcot and back to MK. Take a boat over to Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness and check out the resort. If you time it right, you could go back to a monorail resort, have supper, and watch the Electric Water Pageant.

Hop a bus to HS and take a Friendship over to the Boardwalk. Stroll around, have lunch, take the Friendship back to HS and a bus back to ASM.

Bus to Disney Springs, walk around. Boat to POFQ, then bus to MK, ferry to TTC...

All free except dinner and snacking you might do along the way. Can you tell we like to "cruise" and ride the monorail?

I like the pp idea about the hot air balloon. My DD's are 14 and 16 - they really enjoyed the hot air balloon last summer. My teens love grabbing a Starbucks or Ghiradelli treat. They also enjoy a few hours each trip at Disney Quest (I think it's still open?) It's also fun to build your own treats at Goofys Candy Co
Have fun!

I have NO problem wasting away a day at Disney Springs . . . well, actually, I HAD no problem wasting a day away at Downtown Disney. Now that they have added so many new shops and restaurants, I would think it would just be that much easier to spend a full day there.

At Disney Springs you can catch some live music too. In front of Raglan Road on the patio the dancers actually come outside a perform for a few minutes every now and then. You can see them from the sidewalk. Check out the amphicars and boats at the Boathouse restaurant, maybe someone will be out riding in one. You could also find a good place to watch the MK fireworks from outside the park and watch the resort movie under the stars at a different resort like Fort Wilderness campground.

Great ideas here. Don't forget to stroll around the lake in the evening and catch some live entertainment too at the Boardwalk area. A quick service or table service meal at AK - check out the savanna. If you do not want to hang out at the resort/pool during the day - resort hop. Poly, Grand Floridian, WL, etc. Have fun and welcome to the Disboards.

Its actually a helium balloon! Similar ride to a hot air balloon, but there won't be anyone spraying fire into the balloon to make it go up.

Eat at Earl of Sandwich! It was one of, if not my favorite meal! Also, not at DS but you can take a bus to Art of Animation and take pictures with all the giant statues. It was fun.. and free ;)

Did you know the balloon has an actual balloon pilot aboard who can fly it if the tether snaps? The guarantee is that he can land it "somewhere" in Florida, and Disney will send a bus to pick you up! That's the information they gave me the first time I rode it a few years ago.

My 1st thought was to check out the monorail resorts, and get a Dole whip at the Polynesian. Go on a Hidden Mickey hunt.

So NICE of you to take your little brother on a cruise! Have you ever seen La Nouba? It is a spectacular Cirque du Soleil show in Disney Springs! It's not cheap, but so worth it! That's my favorite thing to do at Disney Springs. To make it fit your budget, don't eat at expensive table service restaurants. Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Express both have excellent, yet economical, food.

Haven't heard this, but all they could possibly mean by "fly" is release enough helium at the right time so you land in a field and not in an ocean or highway!
