Kilimanjaro Safaris while pregnant?

I am pretty sure it would be okay. It is just a VERY bumpy car ride.

Here is the Dis article on pregnancy and rides.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/pregnancy.htm

The article says it is not recommened but I really did not think it was that bad. I went on much worse when we went on our honeymoon and found out later I was already pregnant at the time.

The main thing that I think could be bad is rides that have bars and things that sit across your belly.

The official word from Disney is that it is not safe. I went on it (for the first time) when I was 6 months pregnant. WHen we got to the front of the line, I asked the CM about it (having not been on it before). He said that it was bumpy, and told me tht the front was the least bumpiest. So...I asked to be placed int he first row, and evrything was fine. It wasn't bad at all!

I went on it while pregnant also (I think I was only 2 months along at the time) and it wasn't that bad. I would imagine it might be uncomfortable if you are really far along b/c of the bumpiness, but it was fine for me.

I went on twice while PG..once very early, like 2 months ans once around 7 months...i sat in front and it was just fine.

I went on it while I was 4 mos pregnant and didn't have any problems. I also sat in the front so it would be less bumpy.

maybe also request riding in the handicapped accessable truck... we rode in that once and it didn't seem as bumpy. But that could have been a freak thing that we didn't hit as many bumps compared to other rides....???

Is this your first? It seems like bumpy stuff made me more uncomfortable with each pregnancy. By the third one, even riding the lawn mower would leave me aching.

On the other hand, we were told at Kennedy Space Center that the only person to hit the landing target right on was a pregnant woman. So "go figger" the whole ride thing :confused3

DW went on it while 4 months preg. She had not issues but had a real easy pregnancy anyways.

I would/will go on it, as long as I didn't have a high-risk pregnancy. It was bumpy, but so are Atlanta potholes!

I rode it at 32 weeks and also just requested the front row. I had ridden it before and felt very comfortable with it. Everything else with a pregnancy warning I skipped - even though my doctor had given me the okay on some of it.

I went on it when I was 8 months pregnant - the CM didn't say a word to me and believe me, I looked very pregnant. Did not have a problem at all with the bumps. Seriously, riding in a car on some streets is probably more dangerous bc the cars go faster than this ride!

I don't see why it would be a problem:confused3 . Yes it's bumpy, but they go so slow it's not really a jarring ride. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't see what harm it could do. As the previous poster said riding in your car down a pothole filled road (calling all fellow Minnesotans) is probably worse. If the ride was so jarring it would potentially induce labor, I guarantee every woman who lived in and around Orlando and was close to or just past her due date would be at Animal Kingdom hoping it would send them into labor:rotfl2:

Official word from DIsney is NO riding for pregnant women, i did not ride while pregnant 2 yrs ago. It is a very bumpy ride ::yes::

I rode it at 20 weeks with DD#1 however with my last pregnancy I had had alot of issues and choose to wait it out. Talk to your OB or midwife and get their input. My midwife said go for it with my pregnancy w/ dd#1 because it was a normal complication free pregnancy. She advised against riding it with my pregnancy with DD#2 because it was a pregnancy riddled with problems. My attitude- the ride was going to be there when I return the next trip. And now I have 2 beautiful daughters to take with me.

I rode it while pregnant as well, no problems:thumbsup2

They say no, but my dh says it's no worse than some our dirt roads here and that I "should have gone on it". I will probably skip it again this trip.

I was just at WDW a couple of weeks ago and was between 8 and 9 weeks pregnant. I talked to my OB about this ride before we left on our trip and she told me it was no problem during early pregnancy. I rode it twice (asked to be seated near the front) and it was very tame. The boat launch and exit (the conveyor belt that shoots the boats off and brings them back to load and unload) on It's a Small World was a lot bumpier than the safari was.

Talk to your OB and she what he/she says.

I rode it when 6 months pregnant with my 2nd and it was fine - just really bumpy and uncomfortable. With my latest I skipped the safari though b/c I have had so many issues and had just had gall bladder surgery.

Personally I wouldn't risk it if you have a history of miscarriage or any high risk factors. If you have a normal, healthy pregnancy then talk to your OB but you should be fine.
