Would I be correct in assuming that with KS closing at 5:30pm these days that, similar to rides at park closing, as long as we are in line by 5:29 we will be let on?

Thanks!

Thanks for that. I plan on hopping there the week after next as late as possible but want to ride this. I am going to try to get a LL. I wonder if the latest return times for them state 4:30 - 5:30? Maybe they are earlier?

That's a good question. I didn't do G+ at AK so not sure what a return time for that would look like, but I'm sure if you get a LL time they honor that. I think the 5:30 PM close is the time the last vehicle returns back? Also make sure to check the web site as they adjust the hours for the safari there depending on the day. This was also discussed in this thread. You might want to answer your question there to see if anyone used a LL for it https://www.disboards.com/threads/ak-questions.3872671/#post-63791214

I would shoot for 3:30 ish if you can. We went close to the end for KS and the animals are pretty much ready to head in. Many were not on display and others were gathered at the door to exit the habitat.

I'm not sure what time it closes each day but I would aim to be there at 5:00 at the very latest.

We were at Disney 4 weeks ago and went to the safari at 5:22 on a night that the parks closed at 7PM. Unfortunately we missed getting in line by 7 mins as that night the line closed at 5:15PM.

Times should also be displayed on the MDE app.

Clearly they need a nocturnal section of the safari for later closing times. It would be overrrun with bandicoots, racoons and aardvarks!!!!
I mean, you're joking - but during the few years that they were trying to turn Animal Kingdom into a night park, they had KS at night, and it could be pretty great. The big cats would sometimes wake up and roar after sunset. My favorite was the time two giraffes met us at the gate into the savanna, like they were trying to make a break for it. And they were right up against the vehicle - we got stuck there for a bit. It was awesome.

(I think they were basically shoveling food out to get animals into the open after dark.)

I went on the safari after dark one time too. Didn't see anything as dramatic as a giraffe jailbreak, but I still remember it being a good time. It was interesting trying to spot some of the animals at night
