Kilimanjaro Club Concierge

Just lookng at the points chart for AKV and there are 4 levels of room including the Kilmanjaro Club Concierge which has the highest points cost.

Does anyone know what, if any, extras are included on this level

AKL has/had (many now becoming AKV) concierge rooms which have access to a lounge (serving drinks and some food), the ability to have a CM on call for anything desired including ressies -- they can sometimes get you in at places that may be otherwise full), access to a special tour of animal kingdom available only to concierge quests, and other little amenities usually associated with a hotel's concierge service. Certain AKV rooms will also have that service (not scheduled to open until May 2008) and share the lounge with AKL concierge.

We own at OKW and are wondering what the possibility of being able to book AKV concierge level at the 7 month window.

As far as we know, there will be a total of five 2BR lockoffs at concierge level, so there will be at most 10 villas available. AKV is going to be a big resort when it's finished (smaller than OKW but larger than BWV) so there could be a lot of AKV owners competing for those concierge villas 11 months out. It's going to be interesting...

For what it is worth I had a hard time getting a concierge room through CRO in January for one night before our VWL trip. I doubt if DVC at 7 months would be any better . . . at least for now.

The concierge level has been very popular because of the sunrise and sunset safaris that are available to those guests. We enjoyed the sunrise safari but have not yet done the sunset version.

Sunrise safari is the AK safari ride only much much longer with lots more time to view animals and take photos. It is followed be a fabulous breakfast.

Sunset safari is a private safari tour of the AKL savannas followed by a special toast and then a private first rate dinner at Jikos.

I don't think they will be available at the 7 MINUTE window let alone months. AKV Conceirge is the newest CRT.

We stayed there in December. It was terrific, they had wonderful food. We also tried some of the liqueurs they had on hand. I have a new favorite now--Amarula, made from Marula, the fruit of the Elephant Tree of Africa. I think it's better than Baileys.

The Sunrise Safari was incredible. Pricey, but worth it.

A two bedroom lockoff is actually a one bedroom and a studio with a door adjoining the units. If someone wants to stay in a two bedroom they open the door between the studio and the one bedroom and have a 2 bedroom unit! So yes, there will be 5 studios, 5 one bedrooms and/or 5 two bedrooms depending on who needs which type of room, and who gets through to MS first!

Also, I don't think I will like the view from the concierge villas all that much. They are on the 6th floor and right in the lobby area which puts you pretty far from the animals. Three of them face the Sunset Savannah and two of them face the pool. You can request a particular view but it's not guaranteed. Also, the ones that face the pool have a large roof obscuring part of the view. So I would like to try it but if I could book the Safari without a concierge stay, I'm quite happy booking a guaranteed savanna view villa and buying my own wine and snacks, including a 3-pack of zebra domes from The Mara!

I have one night concierge at AKL for our next trip just so we can do both of those. We do the afternoon safari/Jiko's and then the next morning we do the sunrise safari and then leave to get to the Disney Cruise. We'll be busy beavers. I've done the sunrise before but not the sunset other than as a private tour of the savannas without the Jiko dinner. It was VERY cool.

The AKL concierge rooms are great. We had one on the 5th floor last December, overlooking the Arusha rock. It was perfect! I have no idea where the AKV rooms will be but the AKL concierge rooms are worth the money to get access to the sunrise savanna outing. I doubt they will open that to non-concierge guests because it is so popular with the AKL concierge guests. There's no need to open it to DVC members staying nonconcierge.

It would be interesting to know how many AKL Concierge guests request to stay on the 5th floor rather than the 6th floor so that they get a better view of the animals. I suppose there may be some guests who prefer staying on the 6th floor since that is where the lounge is located. So you may be right about restricting AKV concierge to the 6th floor so that there is some incentive to book those particular villas.

AKV concierge villas will be on the 6th floor. The are converting the 15 AKL rooms on the 6th floor into 5 2BR lockoffs, 3 with a view of the Sunset Savannah and 2 with a view of the pool. With so few villas available, it's going to be extremely difficult to book.

I think this is why there is a fairly small point differential between the savanna(h) view and the concierge rooms. Two points difference between a concierge and savannah studio not much for all the service (and food) you would receive. So, yes they stuck the concierge rooms with the "crappy view" but didn't charge much.

We stayed concierge and requested 5th floor. I think most who are aware of differences in the views for AKL concierge would have requested the 5th floor, unless they had particular needs (smoking, mobility). However, I'm sure most are not fully aware of the view differences until they are there.
