Is it just me, or are these the smallest hamburgers on the entire planet? My small 3 year old ate his little burger (without the bun), then was looking around to see who else had a burger he could eat. What is up with this? :confused3

Perhaps you should have made him eat the bun? If you knew he was only going to eat the meat you should have just ordered him a regular sized hamburger.

They are tiny, I agree. My dd was 9 during our last trip and she was shocked at how small the burgers were. She had to eat part of my meal just to get by.

Maybe OP's son is on a gluten free diet. Or maybe, like a lot of 3 year olds, only eats certain things, lol.

I don't recall the size of the kids burgers, but if OP is a light eater, then maybe she could split a regular adult meal burger with her son.

We've always done well at the parks to get 2 adult meals and one kids, shared between 2 kids and 2 adults, but now that DS is 15, and DD soon to be 9, I think it might be harder to do this on our next trip.

There's always churros, to fill up on, in between meals. ;)

Dizzy4DL, I haven't seen the kids burgers, but know that anything else in the kids meals is pretty small... seems Disney is thinking more toddler meal rather than kids meal. Remember too, according to Disney, you are an 'adult' once you are 10 years old, (paying adult prices at the gate.) Maybe they want the 9 and 10 year olds to start ordering a full adult meal. Best value meals for kids are at the Coke Corner for kids (turkey dog, etc.) as well as the protein power pak for around $6, with the yogurt, cheese string, juice, and goldfish crackers.

DS loves bread (especially with BUTTER!), but he just doesn't like his hot dogs and hamburgers on the bread. But he eats so well that it's not a battle really worth fighting :-)

It worked out fine with DS eating his micro-burger, and then my giving him about a quarter of mine. Everyone was happy, so no worries about that. I was just making an observation, and wondered if anyone else felt the same way.

When we started taking my niece and nephew to the park, they were 4 and 6. We always just bought adult meals for them. They were very good eaters, and didn't snack, so adult meals worked well for them. I swear our first visit to Goofy's with them, we got our money's worth in food!!!

Other nephews from another family snacked all the time, so trying to get them to even eat a kids meal was difficult. My brother usually gets them one adult meal for the 3 kids to share, and they never even put a dent in it.

I recall reading very recently, in another thread, someone commenting that the kids burgers and kids pasta were significantly reduced in size compared to what they were until then. My confident guess is that this is Disney's way to discourage adults from ordering kids meals. They used to be big enough for an adult who eats lightly. Now, apparently, they are not even big enough for some kids.

My kids usually spend all day snack.. and the adult portions are so big that I never really paid much attention to the kids portions. I just know that for the most part everyone ends up full :)
Honestly, usually we do one big meal a day. Like a sit down, character meal or the like and the rest is more on the go like the corn dogs.. We're a HUGE fan of the corn dogs (well 4:5 of us) My hubby usually will grab something else while the kids and I wait for the deep fried goodness on a stick :)

I think this makes a lot of sense... Though you would think that if they decided to shrink the portion size the cost of the meal would shrink proportionally... :rolleyes1

:rotfl: That's one of the food industries great tricks. Half the time they raise prices, and the other half the time they decrease portion size. Often in restaurants, but you see it all the time at the grocery store too. Ice cream used to be a half gallon, yogurt used to be one cup, coffee used to be one pound...now they're often slightly less. Sometimes, eventually, you get a few more ounces free for a short time, then prices quietly go up, then portions quietly start to shrink again but the price doesn't. It's all part of the plan.
