kids with experiance ideas?

I'm heading to Disney for my 5 and 3 years 4th time. I'm looking for some good ideas to mix up the trip since they go twice a year.
One idea I had was for the 5 year old to get a shirt to have the characters sign in leau of an autograph book. Has anyone done this? What kind of shirt works well and what type of Pen do I need?

We are going to MNSSHP one night, but other than that we are just planning on hanging out and taking it slow. Any good thoughts/ideas to try while we are there?

We are staying at the Poly, btw.

you could just use a laundry marker to write on clothes. the kinda thing you use to write your kids names on the inside of their school uniforms.

Characters will sign clothing, but you can't be wearing it at the time. If you're doing a shirt, you should also carry a small piece of heavy cardboard to put inside to provide a hard surface for signing, and also to prevent the ink from bleeding through.

Thanks for that heads up, I think I had heard that but forgot. I can use a book or something for them to sign the t-shirt on right?

Any other good ideas for something different this trip?

other ideas for kids...
fort wilderness has lots of great stuff to do... petting zoo, pony rides, golf cart rental tour, hay ride, evening movie/marshmallow roast/sing-a-long, bike rentals... any resort w/a marina there are boat rentals... a dessert tour thru world showcase... ice cream social... kidcot mask making stations... pressed penny collecting (go park to park and resort to resort)... hidden mickey adventure...
that's all i can think of off the top of my head... hth!

Thanks for the input gigi1313, we might head over to Ft. Wilderness. I've always considered staying in the cabins over there and it would be nice to check them out anyway!!

The kids love horses too...and since they aren't old enough for the horseback riding, pony rides is the closest we can get this trip.

We have a DD4 who has been to WDW more times than I can count. We try to do a few different things each time to keep things interesting. Here are some ideas:

- A Grand Floridian kids adventure -- pirate cruise, cooking, tea party

- we let her choose her favorite rides and attractions, so that we get her must sees in

- we let her choose which character meal she wants to attend the most -- we tell her several choices and always add some new ones (1900 Park Faire, Breakfastasaurus)

- we have started trying to go to different places (Hoop de Doo, Fort Wilderness, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Coral Reef in Living Seas for dessert, San Angel Inn in Mexico, the Boardwalk)

- we are trying to stay at a different resort each time -- we have been amazed at how she responds to different resorts (The strongest reactions this trip were at WL and BW -- she is begging to stay at them!)

Ha! We took our DD6 last year and stayed at the WL and she wanted to know why we couldn't stay at a "disney" resort (all star movies)

Guess I will enjoy the savings while I can!

If you haven't done the Family Magic Tour, I highly recommend it. I took my 4yo (Happy) and 6mo (Sleepy) last year as my husband had to play golf with a client and I wanted structured time for Happy. It was truly, and I know this gets cliched on this site, magical. So, so, so much fun, all the adults were kids again and got as much out of the $25 per head cost as the kids did. They were very accommodating to me with the stroller as well, so if your 3yo gets tuckered, nobody would have to drop out.

There's a character meet and greet at the end where you are a true vip, CM's keeping other park-goers away from your character, etc. The memory of Happy running through the park with Peter Pan and then having the option to ride Peter Pan's Flight with him still takes my breath away.

It's two hours, in the morning usually, and non-stop excitement. When Happy talked to his Grandmother and she asked what his favorite ride was he replied "Well, my favorite part was the Family Magic Tour, but my favorite ride was Dumbo."

disneygoof, you didn't have any problems taking the 6mo with you on the tour? The age list 3, but we have friends that want to go but they have a (3mo?).

At 3 my DD loved playing minigolf. I carried the baby in the Snugli carrier and just had my DD fish my ball out of the hole for me. She loves it, still talks about it over a year later. We played Fantasia and Winterland...

I wish I had this "problem" DS11 thinks all resorts should have a concierge lounge and snacks. And DD3 now thinks we should always stay at the "Blue Hotel" (the BC) and play on the beach (SAB).


When we went in May the last evening we were there we didn't go to a park. We had dinner at Beaches and Cream. We had the Kitchen Sink instead of a meal. The kids loved that they got ice cream for dinner.

After dinner went to the arcade next door and played games, then walked over to the Boardwalk and rented a Surrey bike. We watched Wishes from the Boardwalk while DS looked at the pin trading cart.

We then went back to Beaches and Cream and ordered Hamburgers for a late dinner. It was a really fun and relaxing night.

That sounds like a great time to me
I always feel like we should goto a park everyday since we have already "paid" for it without AP's, but some of the best times we have are just hanging out. Last August we went to Downtown Disney and a movie and it was one of the best days of the trip.
